The common tree of the present does not exist in the external realm, but conceptualization universally reveals the commonality of both. Therefore, it is certain that the external realm and the Dharma are not in accordance. For one, the object of not having one exists in the external realm, and its particularity is also imputed. Therefore, it shows the imputed external realm. Therefore, people who see now do not engage in conceptualization, although they understand the difference between seeing and examining, they combine the meaning of seeing and examining into one. Because of being made one, the object without conceptualization, the seen fire is certain. Because for imputation, is it the nature of the seen fire? Again, it is said not to conceptualize, the nature of the fire appearing by conceptualization is clung to as an object, not to others. Therefore, from the ultimate nature of tree non-existence, it is further determined that although it is determined that the external realm and the Dharma are not in accordance, the external realm is certain. Also, some say that sound exists in the part of the object that is separately determined, and conceptualization is also the same. For those people, one should ask this: If one holds what is seen to be the same as what is seen, then even a small difference in parts is not grasped. If one thinks it is similar to others, then the imputed thing becomes uncertain. If one does not see the ultimate external realm that is different from one, even so, as long as tree non-existence exists, the external realm is established. If one grasps its ultimate nature, then the nature of the external realm will surely be determined, because the meaning of imputation is the particularity of the external realm's tree non-existence. If one does not grasp the external realm's tree, then its ultimate tree non-existence will not be grasped either? If that is indeed the case, then even if the imputed tree is not the nature of the tree, it will impute the ultimate of tree non-existence. Therefore, in order to determine the imputed tree non-existence, one must determine the external realm. For the particularity of the imputed tree non-existence, knowing that this is a tree, the determination of the external realm itself is the determination of the meaning of the external realm, not the real external realm. Understanding tree non-existence is not

Because, if the meaning of external objects is not grasped, then it will certainly not be understood as emptiness by others. Similarly, when negating "sound is not permanent," it is understood that permanence and sound are of the same entity. Being of the same entity also refers to the same thing. If something is seen together with something else, then without negating it, one cannot negate the other. The existence of sound also negates the permanence of the same entity, therefore, it is certainly different from external objects, and therefore, it can be related to things and non-things. Even if other dharmas of the same entity are obstructed, they are not obstructed, therefore, only the ultimate nature that is separated from other things can be determined by conceptual thought. If the knowledge of negation is not directed towards external objects, it is because they are invisible. Nor is it directed towards the mind and the apprehended aspect, because both are to be experienced. Nor is it directed towards imputation, because at that time it is impossible to negate what is apprehended as the nature of imputation. Similarly, the knowledge of establishment is also not directed towards external objects, because they are invisible. Are the mind and so on not mistaken about what exists, so should these not be negated? It is true, but negation and establishment are not conceived as being directed towards external objects, the mind, aspects, and imputation. Establishment and negation are related to whatever imputation has been determined to be the external object itself. For example, the knowledge of establishing and negating a snake is not the substance of the rope, because it is invisible. Nor is it directed towards the mind and the apprehended aspect of the snake, and the imputed snake, because they are not mistaken about existing in their own nature. However, the imputation of a snake that has been determined to be the external snake itself is like determining it to be establishment and negation. Whatever is definitely grasped by clinging to things and non-things in common is what strives to definitely separate from one thing, for example, when knowing that it is not a pot, when definitely grasping that it is not a pot, it is like definitely grasping whether it exists or not, commonly definitely grasping things and non-things. All conceptual thoughts are also things and non-things.
