When some appearances are regarded as permanent, they are grasped by conceptual thought through seeing the opposite object itself. If you ask, "Isn't that how it is experienced?" The answer is, "Indeed it is." However, it is not the case that permanence itself is regarded as different from appearance, but rather it is the seeing itself. Therefore, there is also the act of seeing an object in that. For that very reason, the assumption of the absence of a pot is also preceded by seeing. In this way, if one were to perceive only the opposite, then the pot would not be perceived, because the connection is not considered. Therefore, the pot itself is determined to be of both natures, either existent or non-existent, because perceiving existence or non-existence, the absence of a pot is the nature of things. When one perceives that there is not even a little object, even then, there is the act of seeing the object itself. If you ask, "The conceptual thought of a pot is preceded by seeing the pot, but not by the perception of absence," if that is the case, even then, whatever is determined to be the opposite of existence is the opposite because it is not the same as the pot. Therefore, it can also be said that there is the act of seeing the pot. For the conceptual thought of the absence of a pot, the self-characteristic of emptiness of the nature of the pot is also made by others. If one sees "a certain pot," then if there is no pot, it cannot be permanent. For the conceptual thought of the absence of a pot, it depends on the agent who has experienced the pot. If you ask, "For the conceptual thought that thinks, 'Does the Lord not exist?', is there also the act of seeing the Lord?" The answer is, "No." Then, how is it? Just as perceiving the Lord, seeing a similar object is preceded by seeing, so too, for the conceptual thought of absence, it is also preceded by seeing a similar object because it is the conceptual thought of the nature of the Lord's qualities. Therefore, the appearance of all four conceptual thoughts also comes from seeing a similar object, and from the consciousness of inverted grasping, it is an imputation that accords with one's own aspect. Therefore, this meaning imputed by conceptual thought is completely non-existent. When one perceives it as different from others, it is also similar.

Therefore, even in external objects, one can realize the distinction from others. Therefore, external objects are also pervaded by the discriminating function that is unmixed with the nature of others, but it does not touch the aspect of things. Therefore, external objects, being devoid of substance, are the object of discrimination. Therefore, both what is grasped and what is clung to are distinct from others and not things. Therefore, since difference is without inherent existence, there is no discrimination of place and non-place. The common mind is also corrupted, therefore there is no refutation. Thus it is said. Whatever is the meaning of discrimination is the meaning of sound. Therefore, the meaning of sound is indeed non-existent in the ultimate sense. The meaning of sound is identical to this, and although it does not exist, how is it? Like appearance, it is what is expressed, but this is impossible for things. Thus it is said. When that imputation is realized, the external object similar to it will be realized, therefore the external object is also imputed as the meaning of sound. As it is said: Imputed as its own nature, because of realizing the reversal of others by realization, whatever is the meaning of sound, that is, there is no contradiction in saying. Thus it is said. At the time of joining sounds, the nature of eliminating others from the object of discrimination is also joined as what is to be expressed by the nature of certainty. If it is not so, how can the elimination of others become what is to be expressed? Therefore, the object of discrimination is the elimination of others, and that is also separated from others and joined as what is to be expressed. As it is said: Like a vase and a palm, what kind of action is explained, and so on. Therefore, two eliminations should be expressed, namely the nature of certainty and the object of discrimination. As it is said, having completely abandoned others from that, the sound is also said to enter, if it does not distinguish this from those, how is it? Thus it is said. Whatever cannot be expressed as a thing or as an elimination of others from a thing, and where the greatness of the wisdom of the treatise declines, the limit of what is to be expressed. By distinguishing the eliminations, may whatever virtue I, the supreme Dharma, have obtained, may it cut off the uninterrupted continuation of darkness for me and beings. Teacher
