If that is the case, is conceptualization clinging? If one has ascertained something as inverted, then direct perception is not a valid cognition. For example, ascertaining something as water, but clinging to the nature of a mirage, direct perception is not a valid cognition. Because the object of approach is certain, and the water is also certain, but it is not obtained. The nature of a mirage is not ascertained by direct perception, therefore it is not an object of approach, and therefore it relies on the sense faculties. If it is the apprehended object of inverted clinging, then the valid cognition is that which harms the clinging that accords with it. What doubt is there about this? If that is the case, then how does direct perception arise when it is seized by doubt? It is also a valid cognition. Because is this fire or a collection of flowers? Is it the difference between being true or not true? One doubts about things and non-things. If one does not cling to fire itself, then it will not become a doubt that focuses on both. If one clings to fire itself, then the clinging to other parts produced by doubt is more excellent than the action of direct perception, therefore it does not harm the action of direct perception. If one thinks that the action of direct perception is absolutely certain, then that is not reasonable. The object of approach is what appears to direct perception, but doubt is not the apprehended object, and it is certain, not uncertain. Will it become certain? Or even if a certain clinging is made the object, it still abides in certainty itself, so what need is there to make it absolutely certain? If the appearance of clinging is the object of approach, then absolute certainty itself will become the result of direct perception, because the object of clinging that is absolutely uncertain cannot be obtained. The object of approach is the aspect of direct perception, because it is clinging to what is seen, but not the object of action. What is seen also abides in direct perception, therefore, the fire that is seen by it is certain, so it is the object of approach. It is the direct perception that causes entry, not doubt. Because its aspect is not the object of approach. Any other imputation of the aspect of doubt is eliminated by another valid cognition. If the world from doubt

If it does not enter, then if there is doubt, it will turn back. Why does it enter? Therefore, doubt is not the cause of turning back. Merely determining something as contradictory in nature is not a complete manifestation, so it is not an object of entry, and therefore not the cause of direct perception entry. Thus, the contradictory nature is not a valid cognition, but rather doubt is. Therefore, why seek uniqueness in an attachment that is not a cause of entry? It is where attachment itself is the cause of entry that uniqueness is sought, like inference. Therefore, for conceptual thought, inference is a valid cognition because it has a definite object and can obtain whether the object is definite or not. Furthermore, the object of entry for all direct perceptions is the stream of things that appear and are definite, not a sign. The establisher of the definiteness of appearance is also direct perception, not attachment. Therefore, the destroyer of the definite aspect of the object of entry is view, while the establisher of indefiniteness is the attachment called doubt, not view. If it is said that the attachment to the limb of obtaining an object is not the function of direct perception, then the attachment is true, it is attachment to what is seen, not just attachment. The function of direct perception is attachment to what is seen. If there is no attachment, then, like a moment, a thing that cannot be designated as definite in object, time, and form is not an object of entry. Thus, even if doubt determines something as seen, it is when the object, time, and form are definite that the thing appears and is definite, and is then called a designation. If the blue that is apprehended by doubt is indefinite, and something else can be obtained, then is the object of entry not indefinite? If so, then what is indefinite is what is apprehended, and the appearance is indefinite. Therefore, the definiteness of appearance depends on view, not attachment. If, because the definiteness of a thing is not apprehended, is a moment also not an object of entry? Doubt will apprehend the definiteness, asking, "Is this indeed blue? Or is it not a thing?"
