Therefore, one should not readily commit. Even if the stated valid cognitions are immediately present, they will not fully accomplish the desired purpose, because the reason is not established. Because for the particular existence of the shape of cotton threads, there is no involvement of knowledge, so another different entity, called "cloth," is not seen even with eyes open. If someone says they see it, etc., this will be refuted later. Because it cannot be proven by other means, and because it exists in a different place, and because the valid cognition is different, and because it relies on prior and subsequent times, and because it possesses different abilities. Regarding this, the initial prover, seeing the sharp cause arising from action, like the red eyes of an enemy, cannot tolerate the conclusion arising from it. The initial establishment is itself the proof, Secondly, the reason is not established. Because it is momentary, it is special. Which arising is desired? This is the summarizing verse. Having made this the object of investigation, whatever is said, such as "the fragrance of a lotus," etc., is irrelevant. Because "the fragrance of a lotus," etc., and the particularity of sweet taste, etc., are for proving that the self-nature of the lotus is established. This is its meaning. Becoming the universal essence to prove that there is no particular result, etc. What is known as sound is said to prove the particular fruit, so it is called particular and possessing particularity. Here, there is not even a slight other characteristic of the substance as stated. As previously stated, that which is similar to it is invisible. If so, in this way, they will differentiate those things. Those things are also differentiated, but they are not very different. What contradiction is there in this? There is doubt about withdrawing the reason from the inconsistent side, because the relationship is not established. Establishment does not exist merely through the establishment of an example, because this would lead to everything being established. Furthermore, regarding the self-nature of the form in the body of a tear, here too, the tear and the form, as well as the body and the self-nature, themselves possess differentiation, so they necessarily must be different.

If it changes, it is not a change, because it would become devoid of inherent existence. Therefore, what you say is clearly uncertain through this. Furthermore, those sentient beings who are deluded by the demon of non-attachment to extremely many wrong views, mention the fragrance of the lotus and so on. If it does not rely on being the object of thought of a person (Pudgala), then how does it enter in relation to the thing itself? Furthermore, how does it show the meaning concisely without relying on the thing itself in that way of combination? If it is like the first case, then all sounds would become constantly produced. Furthermore, for the past and so on, it will also not be combined according to the wishes of the person (Pudgala), and the different meanings of other treatises will not change, so some words will not become untrue meanings. If it is like the latter case: Those words that are statements determined by things, not relying on the intention to emphasize the statement, then for those words, the sixth chapter and the criticism of word classification and so on are reasonable. If it does not rely on external meaning, then what kind of words should be said? Determining it as the expresser itself, that is the expresser as it is. At that time, it is the intention of the person (Pudgala). Because it is unreasonable for the meaning of the sound that enters by the power of ability to exist in the way of the thing itself. At that time, because of doubting the return from the inconsistent aspect, through this, it is understood like the object meaning of evil thoughts and so on, like form, smell, touch, knowable itself and so on, because different sounds express it. Like stone, scale, bushel, and things to be measured and so on, this is also excluded. Therefore, to show that it exists, there is not even a little bit of valid cognition (pramāṇa), this is established. Our valid cognition (pramāṇa) to prove that it does not exist is this: Whatever exists in mutually different natures and is related to the body, that is a substance with limbs existing in the body of a nature that is related to difference and following, just like different containers holding ashes, the thing itself and so on also have the Dharma as stated, this is the reason of nature.

The grounds are dissimilar, such as lotus flowers in the sky, etc., because they lack inherent existence. The inherent existences spoken of earlier are also mutually distinct, so they should not be accepted. Regarding these, it is unreasonable to say that "they exist by all of themselves or by one part," which is a damaging measure. Why is that? Because just as dependence resides on a single basis, simultaneously existing in many, it should also be considered the nature of many; how could this be a distinct nature? When focusing on one part of a whole with parts, one will fall into the fault of focusing on it because it is not completely perfected on that. Focusing through focusing on multiple wholes with parts will also lead to seeing only a part of one part. Through focusing on the incomplete whole with parts, if one focuses, one will fall into the fault of seeing all the parts, because seeing this shore cannot simultaneously see the other shore and the middle parts. Saying that one part causes all the left side to shake, etc., and it is not one part, because it will fall into the fault of having parts, and it will also touch one part. That is, when the foot, etc., exists on its part, this will also exist, etc., there is no single existence of the whole with parts that exists. Like this, the collection of feet, etc., is only, ah! The wholes with parts that have become the nature of existence are related to some. For some, this does not exist either, because there is no single part. Since it is sufficient to explain with endless inversions, I will not elaborate further. Therefore, one should not speak of other tenets like this, just as connecting the dust of a fragment of a snow mountain with a collection of sunlight, considering that it would become like that, so he said, "What understanding do you have for other meanings?" If one thinks that this idea is bad, but many other things do not do the same thing, even if there are many, he said, etc. What is it like? Just like the eye, etc. For example, through form, appearance, attention, and object, etc., the eye produces one consciousness.
