The meaning summarized here is that only actions and speech can be used to infer slight movements. The sign is not a characteristic of movement because of confusion about characteristics. This is the meaning here. In order to show that it is the same as those who assert the existence of external objects, it is said, "How to observe actions," and so on. If those who assert the existence of external objects observe actions, but do not observe movement in themselves, and therefore infer the movement of others by implication, then similarly, for those who assert that knowledge is internal, they also observe things that appear as actions, but do not observe actions in themselves, and therefore infer the movement of others by implication. Where those who assert the existence of external objects claim that things that appear to be cut off are without reason, in order to show similarity in this as well, it is said, "This is the same," and so on. Why would one not consider the actions and speech of those who assert the existence of external objects, which appear to be related to other sentient beings, to be without reason? Because they do not admit that what those who assert the existence of external objects say is without reason, in order to show that they must admit it without doubt, it is said, "Without doubt." Since those who assert the existence of external objects refute and understand in this way, without doubt, both actions and speech are the nature of being produced by movement, so if there is no movement, these two will not arise, and this reason must be stated. If this reason has been admitted, then how will it be? The other party also says to the things that appear there, "Similar to this," and so on. Those who assert that knowledge is internal also say, similarly to the knowledge that appears to be cut off, that it is the nature of being produced by movement, so if there is no movement, it will not arise. Therefore, there will be no difference between those who assert the existence of external objects and those who assert that knowledge is internal. It is said thus: Just as those who assert the existence of external objects say that actions and speech related to others are the nature of being produced by movement, so if there is no movement, they will not arise, so too those who assert that knowledge is internal also say that knowledge that appears to be looking outward is produced by movement, and if there is no movement, it will not arise.

Thus he spoke. Therefore, it is said that there is no difference between these two. To dispel the doubts of those who speak of external objects, it is said, "If those that appear there," and so on. Yogis say that knowledge that appears as actions and speech is the cause of change, why not say that these two are the cause of change even in the dream state? This is the doubt of the former. The proponent says, "Everything is the same," and so on, it is not just the above that is the same. What is it then? This is the same as the above, everything is the same, this is a concluding word. To show the sameness, it is said, "The other party also in the dream, other actions and word targets," and so on. In the dream state, the external object proponent, actions and speech targets related to others, why not say that these are the cause of other people's minds? To dispel the doubts of the external object proponent's answer, it is said, "If because those do not exist," and so on. If actions and speech themselves do not exist in the dream, then how can it become an unchanging cause? If you say so, the person who thinks that the knowable is internal will say, "Similarly, if the target is the same, why does it not exist?" Just like in the state of not being asleep, the target of actions and speech is the same, in the dream state also targets the same target. Therefore, if the actions and speech targets are the same, why do they not exist? To dispel the doubts of the external object proponent's doctrine, it is said, "If people because of sleep," and so on. People are confused because of sleep. Therefore, empty consciousnesses will arise, therefore those do not exist in the dream, this is the doubt of the former. Here, The proponent says, "According to the other party's point of view," and so on. According to the point of view of those who think that the knowable is internal, also because of the confusion of sleep, consciousnesses with the image of actions and speech will arise involuntarily. For the time being, the similarities have been discussed together with the Sautrantika school. Vi
