So, what is the relationship between cause and effect in terms of the nature of another cause and effect? For things that have obtained cause and effect, what ultimate meaning is there in merely being associated with another? If one thinks that this state is self-generated, thereby understanding it as being free from association, this is neither logical nor supported by experience, so it is unreasonable. If it is said that the association between cause and effect is understood from difference, then for things that have become like that (different), does association still exist? This is unreasonable. Because this is just a sound, not an experience, and it relies on the meaning of the other's power of the namer, so such things are not truly existent. It is unreasonable to think that there is a categorical other-association just because they are cause and effect. For example, a person who cannot see, distinguishes by seeing and not seeing, even if he points out things that are seen and not seen, it is understood as a result. For the cognizer who can see the cause of a collection of flames etc., when he sees a certain object as a target, if he does not see that target, then that which is not the target is understood as the result of flames etc. So, here, what and to what extent is applicable? Can one determine "it is something else" merely because one cannot see, or merely because there is a tree, or merely because one sees a tree? Even if there is fire, but if it makes one unable to see, then merely by that one can determine that it is the result. The explainer says that this understanding of emptiness is non-conceptual direct perception. If further understood, all cognitions are understood as the result of action, for example, the action of the potter's hands etc. causes the gradual manifestation of pots etc., similarly, even inanimate seeds etc., through the gradual manifestation of sprouts etc., are understood as the action of their collection. Therefore, the action itself is its own, not "this". Cognizers understand by "from this arise these cognitions", they understand it in this way.
