Just because smoke is the result of a fire pile, does that alone make it become a similar, like-it result to that other one? Because for that, the obvious and non-obvious reasons do not function. For whom only those are produced by other things, that will become the fruit of that other thing. If that is other, what will it become? By what means will it produce such a form? If that is the case, why not admit that some manifestations of smoke can also arise from things like vases, since there is no other difference. If what fault arises from those things? If that is the case, because there is no valid cognition, there is no certainty about the nature of such distinctions, because doubt will arise from things dissimilar to it, and if there is no certainty in what accompanies and does not accompany such smoke and so on, then what will make the result an understandable reason? Only what is certain to exist in the same place and time can be understood by obvious and non-obvious means that smoke is the result of the special cause of fire, but it is impossible to understand its own accompaniment and non-accompaniment, because it cannot exist elsewhere. If that is the case, or because such a general nature is a sign, such a form will also arise, then how can the mind accompany or not accompany such a form? As it is said: places, times, and circumstances, different, abilities are also different, through inferring things, understanding is very difficult. If it is said like that, that is not a statement of an established tenet, but it is said that it arises from that and so on. Here, again and again, the nature determined by the obvious and non-obvious things arising from the collection of smoke and so on, and the existence of things that are like that and dissimilar to that, how can it be doubted that it is the same as something other than what is completely seen? And, for what is determined again and again as the particularity of smoke arising from a collection of fire and so on, what depends on it is that the particularity different from it, and things similar to it and dissimilar to it, also have various abilities, and there is doubt that it will arise from that. Similarly, that is also determined again and again to arise from a collection of fire and so on, at that time, being similar to it is itself dependent on other things. For that time, what would be more different than it?

When something similar arises from such a thing, the nature that is dissimilar to it is not the nature that arises from a collection of fire and so on. Even the smoke that is not seen at all will have the collection of fire as its cause. The nature that is similar to it arises from the nature of the cause that is different in characteristics from the collection of fire and so on. Therefore, since the collection of fire and so on is not the cause, then the smoke that is seen to arise from it together with it will also not arise. Whatever is not the cause of this, that and that will never arise from it, because that would be without a cause. 'Not arising from it' is said to mean that the cause of fire and so on is intended to be stated. Not that is the absence of that. Not in accordance with that characteristic and dissimilar to that are the crown of Indra and so on. Therefore, that which has the nature of arising arises from that. The characteristic similar to that is the entity of that smoke. Sometimes means even once. Because fire and so on do not arise from it, it is contradictory to existence. If it is determined to be so, then from the collection of fire and so on, the nature similar to it is that the similar itself is the cause. If it is to be understood by direct perception and inference from just one occurrence, from what should one doubt confusion? Therefore, whatever kind of smoke is seen to arise from the collection of fire and so on, that kind of smoke arises as the similar itself because of its nature. Wherever there is smoke, there is definitely a collection of fire, this is determined by concomitance and exclusion. Alternatively, it can be explained differently. Here, direct perception and inference have already been established as the result of the cause and the entity of the cause, as mentioned before. It is unreasonable to want to show the concomitance and exclusion of that cause, for example, some smoke arises from something other than the collection of fire and so on. Sometimes, this first moment of arising also arises from the collection of fire and so on. But not all are similar to it, because whatever the first moment of smoke is like, the second moment and so on are also similar to that only through direct perception.
