is made. This well-spoken explanation is beautiful when presented to those with great wisdom, as it is expressed in a concise manner. Because it can be understood as it is briefly stated, it is not suitable for those with lesser intelligence. For them, there is no understanding of the meaning as it is, other than through extensive explanation. Therefore, just as the previous brief statement was driven by meaning, it also approximates the characteristics of seemingly valid reasons. Here, the characteristics and number of reasons are determined, and it is explained that reasons are defined as three types. Because it is the cause of both, it is said to be related to both, and the characteristics of seemingly valid reasons are explained implicitly. Thinking that this is not a reason for stating, the meaning of the verses is expanded into six types. Furthermore, these are also considered good. The so-called three natures, namely, nature, result, and non-observation, these different reasons are different. Similarly, the three natures, namely, the property of the subject, concomitance, and the nature of contradiction, these three different forms are merely the three aspects. By saying "pervades all," concomitance and contradiction are expressed. Even if there are other aspects such as the state of being harmless, that is not a reason. Why? Because, seemingly valid reasons, other than being related to the three forms such as nature or to the three aspects such as the property of the subject, are different from other aspects that are truly possessed and aspects such as the state of being harmless. Why? Because, non-arising without is the three forms. Only the three forms and the three aspects can determine the reason, and other than nature and so on, there are no other aspects, and there are no other compatible aspects, that is its meaning. There is no reason for a connection different from nature and so on, non-arising without is impossible, and similarly there are no other aspects. If it is said that other aspects of non-arising without are also possible, then just as in the case of six characteristics and so on, here the property of the subject is regarded as the characteristic of the reason.

If 'aspect' is taken to be common, then for all objects of inference, either the argument is not established, or if it is, the inference becomes meaningless. If someone thinks this, then it is said that 'aspect' refers to the subject of dharma. If it is a common word, then how does the word 'aspect' only refer to dharma? Because it is a common designation for the branch. The word 'aspect' is common to both branches of dharma and subject of dharma, but here, it only refers to the subject of dharma, so the word 'aspect' applies. Because it becomes a reason for being one of its aspects, it is commonly designated. Therefore, something different from the subject of dharma to be proven will not become a fault. As it is said: 'The common meaning itself is what needs to be proven, whether it is dharma or subject of dharma, even if it is not the main one, it is approximately designated, because it is one aspect of what needs to be proven.' Here, the teacher explains that in order to answer the views of the Svatantrika, the first aspect is presented: 'If because there is no need.' etc. If there is no need, because one does not want to particularly emphasize the meaning of things, there is no need, so one should not approximately designate. Therefore, if others think that the dharma of the subject of dharma is foolish, it is not without necessity, because everything is the basis of dispute or other subject of dharma. In order to refute that dharma, the necessity of approximate designation also exists, therefore, approximate designation is not without necessity, because it is in order to refute the dharma of all subjects of dharma, so the argument is not established. If so, what advantage would there be? If so, it is said 'because it can be seen with the eyes' etc. Mentioning 'black crow' etc. is because it is not established due to different bases. Complete abandonment is because the argument is excluded. Those words that commonly express 'dharma of the subject of dharma' also become arguments, therefore, even if the subject of dharma is mentioned, it is established, so there is no need for approximate designation. Therefore, others think that only approximate designation is meaningless, so they say 'even by stating the dharma'. It is not just stating the subject of dharma, because the subject of dharma is established as the basis, because the basis is the subject of dharma, so the basis
