If one thinks like that, one should not assume that harm can be averted by reversing the target. Here it is said, "Even if the target is reversed," what is intended is that if there is harm and it cannot be avoided, then at that time, the harm target still exists, because that is the reason for being powerless, so it is not a combination of arguments. What becomes a state without harm? The conclusion of these is that it is said, "Therefore," because if one does not acknowledge that the pervasiveness of the reason must be completely proven, and that it will not occur without it, then the external pervasiveness will happily be obtained in vain through the combination of arguments. Therefore, one's own thing to be proven exists and does not exist, and if it also exists in other things, then even if one's own thing to be proven exists, it will not exist, and even if it does not exist, it will exist. For the dharma that is the reason, even a little bit will not become the thing to be proven, nor will it become the prover. Not preventing is also not preventing the opposite of this. Therefore, if one abandons proof and refutation, one cannot combine. It must be assumed that for one's own thing to be proven, the combination of reasons that will not occur without it, undoubtedly acknowledges all the reasons. This also does not depend on seeing or not seeing through the cause of obstruction. Because, as previously stated, harm and things that will not occur without it are proven to be contradictory, so the conclusion of saying "Therefore," etc. If it exists in something different from this, then even if a definition is formulated, another essence should be stated, and if there is a difference, what will it become? Because confusion may arise from the basis of difference and the things that have difference, but it is impossible for only the unique thing. To give an example, it is said, "For example," etc., audible things etc. are related to the dharma, but do not exist in the similar side. Things that can be grasped by the eye etc., even if they exist in the similar side, do not exist in the dharma to be proven. Therefore, for things that have pervasiveness in the basis of difference, it has not been shown by definition that confusion may arise. If this also happens here, then these

This has been said immediately. If 'non-arising without' exists, then harm to 'existence' is possible. If there is no harm to 'non-arising without,' then 'existence' exists, because it already exists, so error is impossible. If so, then the basis of difference and the existence of difference, it is not appropriate to explain the characteristics as other. Is not the contradiction with the thesis and the reason of 'non-arising without' the opposite of the thesis? Harm to the object of 'non-arising without' is impossible. In the form that has already been said, applying the true reason itself to the opposite, the non-object, is called a fallacious reason. For what reason is it so? Because that is the reason. That which does not exist is the exclusion of harm. Furthermore, one should not explain the characteristics of these two, which contradict the reason of the nature of concomitance and pervasion of 'non-arising without,' as other, because the nature of non-error cannot be other. Because 'non-arising without' exists, harm to 'existence' is impossible, therefore, for the connection of the reason with the characteristics as described above, it should be understood that the faults of including the thesis, and contradicting direct perception, etc., are also impossible. How is that explaining other ways of the reason that excludes harm? Even if it is impossible, if those are said, how can there be no result? If it is said that only the connection is possible, then the thesis, etc., are stated. For the connection of the reason, it is impossible to connect only to the thesis. Because the object of the reason has already been promised, if the object does not exist, then it is unreasonable for that reason to exist. Therefore, the author of the treatise, Acharya Dignāga, also said that contradicting direct perception, etc., are faults of the thesis. Even if the connection becomes inappropriate because of seeing the reversed understanding of what is to be established and the opposite of what is to be established, it is possible to obtain the reasoning of explaining the characteristics of the subject. With the word of exclusion on the subject itself, the contradiction with valid cognition is explained. Because it would become too extreme, the characteristics of the subject should not be distinguished, because it is the object to be established of doubt. Because what is harmed by valid cognition and what harms do not exist, only that is the object of non-harm, other dharmas should be excluded, exclude.
