Nor will it change. The two that are contradictory in nature will not exist in each of the things either. If it is said, if as a true reason, there is no dharma to be established, it will not arise, then how can this be changed by other reasons? In order to show the second distinction, it is said, "Even if the dharma is something that does not exist," etc. If it is thought that the dharma of reason is something that does not exist, then how can it be established by some things? The word "again" means that even if the reason for the moon is not well shown. If it is said, if as a reason, the dharma to be established does not exist, then even if the reason for the moon is not well shown, how can this establish some things? In order to conclude, it is said, "Therefore, essentially," etc. Because the very nature of things cannot be changed, and two things that are contradictory in nature cannot exist at the same time. In reality, if the things to be established by each do not exist, they will not arise. As mentioned before, the characteristics of the fruit and nature with this characteristic, for the characteristics of the fruit and nature, because the reason for the moon is impossible, the desire to express a single number is not a characteristic, because the characteristic of the desire to express a single number itself is not a reason. Why? Because there is nothing to distinguish. It is said, "Because there is nothing to distinguish." This means that there is nothing to distinguish. The nature of the side can distinguish the unestablished, and the existence in the similar side can eliminate the contradictory and the uncommon, and returning from the dissimilar side can eliminate the uncertainty of the uncommon. If the desire to express a single number itself has nothing to distinguish. If it can distinguish things that are not confused with contradiction, then, according to the way mentioned before, since it is impossible to enter the perception through the power of things, the desire to express a single number is meaningless.

In order to eliminate this view, it is mentioned, "If knowledge itself is not the dharma of the reason, then..." and so on. Knowledge is the dharma that infers, but not the dharma of the reason. Therefore, how can it become the definition of the reason? Only the dharma of the reason should become the definition of the reason, one would think. In order to show the rationality that only the dharma of the reason is the definition of the reason, it is mentioned, "From what kind of nature of the reason can things be understood?" and so on. One should contemplate from what kind of nature of the reason the object to be measured can be understood. In this case, for the understander, what does not deceive Devadatta and others? That nature is the nature of the reason, it should be said. After seeing what kind of nature, the inferrer will distinguish and determine: this proves this, this does not prove this. Then, for that proof that places the desired meaning nearby, one will believe that that proof places the desired meaning nearby, and will begin to apply it. The thing that exists in that way, that nature of the reason should become the definition of the reason, but not other natures. To this, if someone thinks like this: because knowledge is the knowledge of knowing the reason, it is closely connected with the thing to be proven, therefore, it should be the definition of the reason. Therefore, it is mentioned, "Merely being closely connected with the arising of inference..." and so on. If, because it is knowledge, one considers merely being closely connected with the object to be measured, the arising of inference, as the reason, then, at that time, there will be an excessive consequence. In order to show that excessive consequence, it is mentioned, "In that case, the object to be measured and the purusha..." and so on. The object to be measured, the meaning, and the purusha, the measurer, and the collection contained in the word "etc.", and appearance and attention, etc., will also become the definition of the reason. Here, it is mentioned, "If there are no those as arguments..." and so on. If there are no objects to be measured, etc., then for the subject, sometimes knowledge will not arise. It depends on knowledge.
