The word including "existence" should not refer only to the thing itself. The so-called "certain non-existence," the word including "non-existence" should not refer only to non-existence itself. Therefore, existence and non-existence are only mutually exclusive depending on the use of words, so they are pointed out as different parts separately. In order to show that knowledge and characteristics are inconsistent, it is mentioned that "knowledge is what makes others know." Just as existence and non-existence are different from each other, knowledge is also different from the third characteristic that is declared in order to make others know. Therefore, because they are not the same, knowledge itself is not an independent other characteristic, which is established. Here, the mention of knowledge in all places should be understood as being for the purpose of highlighting knowledge itself. Therefore, after excluding "undamaged objects" and so on, in order to conclude, it is mentioned that "therefore, the reason is not the establishment of characteristics," because it is said in that way, which is inconsistent with the independent other characteristics of "undamaged objects" and so on. Therefore, the reason is not the establishment of characteristics, which is established. May all kinds of precious wisdom illuminate the minds of those with wisdom, and become the source of reason. Thoroughly destroy the darkness of heretics, and become the lamp of the wise Shakyamuni's teachings, this drop of reasoning. Each word and sentence of this explanation is virtuous, as white and flawless as moonlight. May all of these quickly lead sentient beings to attain omniscience. The mere words and meanings of the sacred drop of reasoning. A detailed explanation, a vast commentary. Done by Dulva Lha, if there is anything inappropriate here. I pray that the noble ones forgive it. The Extensive Commentary on the Drop of Reasoning is complete. Translated, edited and finalized by the Indian Abbot Prajñavarma and the translator-monk Paltsheg Rakshita of Zhuchen.
