It will not be specified in the form of not eating. Therefore, if it is thought that only those will become the real reason, and others will not, therefore, it is said, "With reasons that seem to be able to be established, etc." For those reasons that seem to be able to be established, it is not specified by those not eating either. If it is not specified by not eating, then is it just non-existent? Therefore, it is said, "Having excellent wisdom," etc. Only excellent wisdom can be seen after investigation, but others cannot. Because it is like that, the reasons that seem to be able to be established or not are uncertain. Therefore, because the characteristics of the reason are uncertain. Nothing will become a reason, this is the conclusion. Thus, after excluding the very possibility of a seemingly valid reason, in order to exclude the second distinction, it is said, "Or there is a seemingly valid reason that has not been well pointed out," etc. Or because of fear of the faults mentioned above, one admits the tenet that the seemingly valid reason has not been pointed out. In order to admit this tenet, in order to closely indicate the teacher Dignāga, it is said, "Like what was said," etc. If asked, what was said? The answer is, it was said, "Then, when sound itself is considered permanent," etc. What the teacher Dignāga is to hear is in no way a reason that can cut off, so it was said. And the other party said, then, when the grammarian admits that the difference of the universal, sound itself, is permanent, the dharma of the tenet that has the characteristic of being audible, this will only become a reason, because sound is permanent, because it is audible, just like sound itself. The other party said this. When the other party said this, the teacher Dignāga, who was intelligent and wise, said, if for this subject called sound, the Vaiśeṣika did not make the reason of impermanence, or did not point out one characteristic such as just arising, then, at that time, this seemingly valid reason that has not been well pointed out is of course a reason.

It is said that it will become like that. Like this, in front of the teacher Dignāga, he prayed with power, pressed his head with both hands, and respectfully placed it on top. And he said, "This cannot even be proclaimed," and so on. Alas, how strange, the faults of the lamas should not be proclaimed, because it is what the lama said, so it cannot even be proclaimed. It is very terrible, it cannot be hidden, because it is very important, so it cannot be hidden either, so what should be done? Is it to blame the lama? Or to abandon the reason? What should be done? If one falls into great difficulty, how can one refute? I don't know. What fault is there in this? Why is it unbearable? He said, "With this reason," and so on. With this as the reason for what should be heard. Things also become the very nature of what one wants to prove, that is, sounds and other things are proven to be of a permanent nature. Those who have valid men also, etc., for behavior and grammar, etc., those people who have the measure of what should be heard, those are the ones who have the measure, those who manifest higher realms, combined with auspicious liberation. Like this, meditating on that thing, as long as one does not abandon the afflictions, one will go to the heavenly realms. If one abandons the afflictions, one will go to Nirvana. You, with the other reasons of the man, etc., again at other times, because you, with the man of the nature of wisdom, especially showed other reasons, hindering the ability to prove the reason of the nature of what should be heard. Those things and etc., those things like sounds, and those men who have the measure, also arise from the manifestation of higher realms and auspicious perfection, this is the concluding remark. Like a king losing his throne. Etc., when the king loses power, he will completely rely on the forest of asceticism. Similarly,

Moreover, this reason that is the characteristic of being a valid reason, when it is made powerless to establish, then, just like sounds and other things, and those persons who possess valid cognition, will also be led away from the things themselves, the heavens, and liberation. They will also stretch out their hands and cry out, "Save audibility, save audibility!" But that reason also cannot completely protect them, because it has lost its power due to its own faults, so it can only go to the forest of asceticism. What more can I say here? Therefore, in order to reveal the faults in this aspect of refutation, it is said, "The establishment itself is also done by the courage of a person," and so on. If one admits that a reason that has not well revealed the counter-argument is the reason itself, then the establishment of the reason itself will become done by the courage of a person. Therefore, in reality, even if it is slightly established, it will not become unestablished. Like this, when the counter-argument is not well revealed, it is established; when it is well revealed, it is not established. Therefore, the establishment itself becomes done by the courage of a person. If one admits that a reason that has not well revealed the counter-argument is the reason itself, then, is that reason something that possesses the dharma in the dharma of things, or is it something that does not possess that dharma? These are two analyses. From the perspective of the first analysis, it is said, "That reason," and so on. If the reason that is initially taken, merely from its own nature, possesses the dharma to be established, or possesses the state of causing the dharma to be established to exist, establishing the dharma to be established, then, in that case, by what cause would the dharma to be established exist even if it does not exist, or would the dharma to be established not be established, and be changed by another reason? Why would it not become other? It is said, "The nature of things will change," and so on. Like this, whatever the nature of things is, it will also become other.
