Thus, it is established that "the establishment of the absence of a jar is not an establishment." Furthermore, to dispel doubts about the opportunity for others' words, suppose it is said, "If there is a contradictory relationship," etc. In that absence and the presence of others, there is indeed a contradictory nature of the relationship. Therefore, because of the connection through the contradictory nature of the relationship, the absence of things is established from the presence of others, which is the former statement. The proponent, because there is no contradiction, asks: What contradicts what? Thus it is said that what is to be established is the absence of a jar, and the proposition. What must be said to contradict what together? In order for the opponent to show the contradiction, it is said, "Being a companion with the presence of others," that is, the proposition of the nature of the emptiness of the jar, the jar as a companion contradicts together. The proponent says: Is it not because of what reason that there is a difference between the dharma and the possessor of dharma, etc.? Alas! Here, is it not because of what reason that the difference between the dharma and the possessor of dharma is said to be a contradictory nature of the relationship? In the object of the proposition of emptiness, do you want to measure with the presence of a jar? Is it not here that the jar without a companion is established? Then that, with the presence of others in the nature of the proposition of emptiness, has no contradiction. Why is there no contradiction? Saying, "Because of existing together," thus it is seen that this proposition of the emptiness of the jar and the absence of a jar exist together. For the sake of concluding, it is said, "In that which is to be measured," etc. When here only the absence of a jar measures the proposition of the nature of emptiness, at that time, how do the dharma and the possessor of dharma, which are to be measured, contradict? Therefore, here the two have no connection. Having shown that there is no connection, in order to show other faults, it is said, "Here also," etc. In this aspect of the contradictory nature of the relationship, there is also the fault of not being a commonly desired establishment, which is indeed the one who seizes the opportunity. Furthermore, in order to refute by saying what others do not want, it is said, "If that absence and the presence of others have no connection," etc. Suppose that absence and the presence of others do not want to be connected to each other at all, at that time, the presence of others is understood.

If one cannot realize that which is absent, then it is assumed that the existence of something else is the means of knowing that absence. Proponents of established tenets say, having stated "from any relation" and so forth. If there is nothing that would cause the fault to be the same, whether it does not arise, or is contradictory, or whatever else, they would not consider that the existence of something else is the means of knowing that absence, from any relation whatsoever. If they do not consider that it is known through relation, then how is it known? However, they stated "the existence of something else itself" and so forth, meaning that because there is a place devoid of a pot, therefore the pot is non-existent. This is because only through a valid cognition that establishes the very nature of that which is other than it and without relation, the exclusion of other things is accomplished. This passage has been explained up to this point. In order to clarify this very point, they stated "the nature without relation to others" and so forth, meaning that the existence of other things such as a place, is the nature without relation to a pot. "Merely" means the nature of being devoid. "Abiding in one's own nature" means abiding in the individually determined natures. These two phrases explain the very nature of being without relation. That which has become such, that which completely determines the nature of what has been said, is the negation of the exclusion of other things such as a pot. By doing so, that very place which is merely that, is not separate from other pots. Therefore, the existence of something else itself, is the existence of the place itself, which is called non-existence, that is, the non-existence of a pot. Realizing that which is other than that itself, is realizing the place itself, that is, realizing non-existence, which is realizing the non-existence of a pot. Merely not knowing a pot does not mean realizing the non-existence of a pot. If one does not think so again, what fault would there be? If it is not so, then, having stated "because it completely excludes it" and so forth, meaning that if by completely excluding the place devoid of a pot, one does not exclude or negate the pot, then at that time, it would not become the complete exclusion of the place devoid of a pot itself. Why? Therefore, having stated "because the natures of that and what is not that are not distinguished," meaning that that and what
