Some perceive different kinds. For example, some see humans as different from flowers, such as the Shurpaka blue flower and another kind. Some see differences from fruits, such as the KarKota fruitless one and another kind. Some see differences from taste, such as the taste of the forest and another taste, like that of Queen Gagon. Some see differences from scent, such as the scent of trees and the Champaka flower that grows from another. Some see differences from potency, such as the Arura that causes diarrhea upon touch and use. Furthermore, if the nature of cow dung and something else that grows from it are the same, what fault is there? It is not so, because it arises from the different characteristics of aggregates. Thus, and so on. If it is accepted that from the different characteristics of the collection of causes, the characteristics of the effect are not different, then from causes that are not different, the difference and non-difference of the effect will not be established. Therefore, the difference and non-difference of the three realms will become without reason. If an effect whose characteristics are not different arises from causes whose characteristics are different, even if it is allowed that difference in the effect does not arise from difference in the cause, why would what arises from non-different characteristics not become non-different? Therefore, like this, from difference arises non-difference, and so on. When the difference of the effect cannot be established from the difference of the cause, then from the cause that is not different, the non-difference of the effect will also not be established. Furthermore, if these differences and non-differences are without cause, what fault is there? Therefore, it is said, "Apart from that," and so on. Things are only different and not different, and there is no other thing apart from that. If these two are without cause, then all things will become without cause. If causelessness itself is one, then things will become either eternally existent or eternally non-existent. Here, as a reason, it is said, "Because there is no dependence," in order to show that, it is said, "Things are because of dependence," and so on. This occasional existence of things is
