Then it should be called reasoning. The so-called "other thing" refers to other things besides what is to be proven. Thing other, is synonymous with the words "other", "different", "only other". The reason of self-nature is considered to understand other dharmas by means of mutually contradictory differences, while the reason of effect is universal because it enables other things to be understood. Also, why is it that only the effect is considered as the reason when other things are to be understood, and not others? Therefore, the sentence "because there is no confusion" is said. The so-called cause, that is, the other thing to be proved, only the effect is not confused with it, but others are not, because it is related by the nature produced by it, so it is only related to the effect. Thus, for the relation of its self-nature and the nature produced by it, among them, to its self-nature is the relation of the reason of self-nature, and what is produced by it is the relation of the reason of effect. Therefore, precisely because it is not related to others, it will not be confused. In order to meet the doubts of other people's views, it is said, "If the things of cause and effect are to be understood and understood," and so on. If it is considered that understanding is achieved by examining the relationship of the nature of cause and effect, then in any case it will become the thing to be understood and understood, just like the common attribute of fire, the special attributes will also become the thing to be understood, and the special attributes of smoke will also become the thing to be understood like the common attributes. The common attributes of fire, such as fire nature, materiality, existence, knowability, etc., are considered to be understood, but special attributes, such as grass, leaves, etc. are not. The special attributes of smoke, such as smoke nature, blueness, swirling, etc., are considered to be understood, but common attributes, such as materiality, existence, knowability, etc. are not. Why does it become the thing to be understood and understood in any case? Therefore, it is said, "In any case, it must be produced and produced," and so on.

Sa skya Paṇḍita said so. Because smoke and fire, in all cases, are produced by common and special properties. Fire also, in all cases, is produced by the common and special properties of smoke. Therefore, all cases must be understood, and become the object of understanding, which is the doubt of the former. The proponent says: No, it also arises without it, and so on. Even without fire, matter and so on arise. Even without the particularity of fire, only smoke arises. Therefore, matter and so on can only arise from fire, and smoke can only arise from the particularity of fire, because there is no such certainty. Therefore, there is no fault in saying such a thing. For example, from fire arises the substance called smoke, not the substance called water. From the fire of grass, only some smoke arises, not all. From the point of view of conclusion, in order to examine what is to be proved and what can be proved, and what is to be understood and what can be understood. Therefore, it is said "the nature of the cause" and so on. Because in that way, in all cases, it is not the object to be produced and the object that can be produced, therefore, outside the cause, how many properties without which the result cannot arise, that many are the cause, and not others. Why? Because it is certain to be its result. It is said, "Because it is certain to be its result," which is a concluding word, for example, it is certain to say that only the common properties are the result of smoke. Thus, for the time being, the part belonging to what is to be proved is examined. In order to examine the part belonging to what can be proved, it is said, "Which are the properties without which it cannot arise" and so on. The result is also its property. It should be known that those properties that belong to the cause, without which it cannot arise, those properties themselves are what can be understood. Thus it is said that the special properties belonging to the result will not arise if the common properties belonging to the cause do not exist. Therefore, those properties themselves are what can be understood.
