Oh! If, regarding the inference of meaning, it is sufficient to state only the proposition to be established, however, even if it is not stated verbally, it is to be established because it is stated implicitly. Why? Because it is said, "that," etc. "That" means that meaning. Because it is the basis of what, it is the basis of that dispute. Its entity is that itself, therefore. It is shown in this way: because one wants to eliminate what dispute, the proponent states the proof, therefore, whatever is the cessation of the dispute, that itself is to be established. Like this, the proof is stated for the purpose of eliminating contradictory disputes. If it is not to be established, then what else is there that must be established? For example, "because it is an aggregate, the eyes, etc., act for the sake of others," this is like an example of the inference for the sake of others, which, although not stated verbally, appears as something to be established. What are the eyes, etc., forms, etc., those are the eyes, etc., that is, the subject. Because this is for the sake of others, it is called "for the sake of others," acting for the sake of others itself is to be established. "Because it is an aggregate" is the reason. Like the parts of bedding and cushions, etc., this shows the place of pervasion. What are the bedding and cushions, etc., those are the bedding and cushions, etc., just as the parts of a person's enjoyment are the nature of an aggregate, similarly in this valid cognition, if the eyes, etc., act for the benefit of oneself, although the benefit of oneself is not stated, even if it is not stated, what is to be established is the benefit of oneself. Like this, the Samkhyas say that there is a self, and the Buddhists, who disagree with this, say that there is no self. Therefore, because the Samkhyas do not agree with their own statement, the Buddhists, taking what statement as the cause, in order to eliminate the consistent statement, and in order to establish their own voice, state the proof, therefore, even if it is not stated, what is to be established is the meaning of the self, because that is the basis of the dispute. Bedding and cushions, etc., are needed by a person.

The limbs and so on, the aggregation itself, for the sake of oneself and following are not accomplished, only for the sake of others and are established, therefore, it is said for the sake of others. Named eye and so on, here the word "and so on" is said, is to establish that consciousness also acts for the sake of others. Because other than consciousness, there is only I, so consciousness acts for the sake of others, with the momentum of establishment, the eye and so on become established for the sake of oneself, after thinking like this, it is said to act for the sake of others. Because what is desired is said to be what should be accomplished, therefore, merely saying is not what should be accomplished, however, because it is the basis of the opponent's argument, so what the opponent wants to accomplish should be understood by the occasion, whether it is said or not, it is shown as what should be accomplished. What is called "unrejected" will be explained. What is called "those characteristics" are just what has been said, all the characteristics that have been said to be what should be accomplished and so on. Even if it has those characteristics, but because it has become a non-category, in order to understand, it is said "unrejected". If one wants to establish, but what kind of non-category is it? That is, the meaning that one wants to establish, direct perception and inference, as well as fame and self-nature words, etc., the inverted establishment that is rejected by those is not a category. What is called "to that" is to that which is rejected by the four, such as direct perception. What is direct perception rejection like? For example, it is said, for example, this is direct perception rejection, and the same should be observed for others, for example, the meaning of sound, what the ear can take is audible. What is not audible is inaudible, that is, what is not taken by the ear, this is the meaning of the proposition. The sound that the ear cannot take is contrary to the direct perception that the sound can be taken by the ear. The inference is rejected, such as saying "sound is constant", etc., the proposition that sound is constant is rejected by the impermanence established by inference.
