It means "is." Because on the subject (Tibetan: ཕྱོགས་), it is the dharma to be established, so there is no other nature. Therefore, one's own nature is precisely what is to be established. To explain the word "only," it is said, "one's own nature only." Shouldn't the word "only" be explained separately? Why is it explained in connection with the word "one's own nature"? Because the word "only" is a particle of speech that clarifies, it clarifies the difference in meaning expressed by other words. Therefore, the word with the distinction is shown together with other words as one whole. It is not acceptable to say, "Even if it is established, it is okay," because it is intended to be the establisher, and because it is not established, the word "only" is spoken to eliminate the idea of also wanting to be the established. To show that example, for example, in establishing that sound is impermanent, the reason (Tibetan: གཏན་ཚིགས།) is that it is perceived by the eye. Because it is not established on sound, if it is said to be established, then this shows the intention to be the established. "That" refers to what is perceived by the eye. "Here" refers to sound. "It is not desired to be only what is to be established" means showing that there is no certainty of wanting to be what is to be established. Saying "to speak only of establishment" is because one also wants to be the establisher, but not only to be what is to be established. The word "self" is to present the word "self" as the object of explanation, and to show that meaning, so the word "opponent" is spoken. The particle of the word "self" has the sixth meaning of "of self," and also the third meaning of "self." Therefore, here it is the word "self," the meaning of the word "self" ending in the third case. Because the word "of self" is a word with a connection, and the one who is close is also the opponent, therefore, whichever self of the opponent is expressed in the third meaning, that is what is shown with "by the opponent" as having the third meaning, but the word "opponent" is not a synonym of the word "self." If it is said that that opponent is also, then it is said, "At that time, it is the one who speaks of establishment," the dispute of

What is meant by establishing something within a lifetime. This distinguishes the debater who expresses himself in words from the many debaters. If it is said that way, it will become saying that the debater's intention is what is to be established. Then, what will that statement itself become? This shows that at the time of the debate, what this debater is to establish is only the dharma that he himself desires, and not other dharmas. The result of this word is that preventing the establishment of a dharma that the debater does not desire is the meaning. Then, why is this said in order to eliminate other dharmas that may become what is to be established? Because the word "the maker of the treatise" is said. Because that debater, as the maker of that treatise, has admitted many dharmas on that subject to be established, other dharmas cannot become what is to be established. In this way, whoever admits which treatise, mistakenly thinks that all the dharmas in that treatise should be established. Therefore, even if many dharmas have been admitted, the sentence "what the debater's intention is, that should be established, and not others" should be connected. Isn't the reason for entering through the power of things not dependent on the treatise? Since this is the case, because it is not dependent, it cannot be forced to reside in the treatise, right? Indeed. However, if the arbitrator still resides in a certain treatise, and therefore admits a certain treatise, even if he says that it is established, he said this in order to say "what that person's intention is, that should be established." What is called intention is expressed by the word "intention" and explains its meaning, that is, initiating a dispute against something that contradicts oneself. For example, saying "no-self," denying the self, is contrary to someone who says "there is a self." Because establishment and negation are mutually contradictory. The reason for the dispute is the meaning stated for establishment, that is, establishing that self. Because the debater who certainly desires must establish that meaning, it will be expressed by the word intention. The word "say" that is said at the end is to express those related to this.
