Is it because I myself infer through understanding? Or is it because of the instruction of others? Therefore, it is necessary to explain the self-nature of the sign and the word that indicates. Among them, the self-nature has already been explained as inferring through its own meaning. Now, the word that indicates is being explained here. Therefore, in order to make the word that indicates undoubtedly become what is to be expressed, the teacher expresses it with the word of inference, which is to show the classification of inference of meaning. Therefore, it is said, "That has two aspects." To explain in what aspects the inference of meaning for others has two differences, it is said, "There are two aspects." Why are there two aspects? It is said, "Statement," because of the difference in the function of words. Statement is complete statement, which is expressing meaning. Because the function of words expressing meaning is different, inference has two aspects. In order to show the two situations of the expressive function of the reason, it is said, "Having similar property and having dissimilar property." Among them, the dharma that has the same nature is the similar dharma, and its essence is the nature similar to the dharma. The dharma that has different natures is the dissimilar dharma, and the essence of the dissimilar dharma is the nature dissimilar to the dharma. The same treatment done by reason with the example of the subject and the subject to be proven is called similar to the dharma. The different way of treating with reason is called dissimilar to the dharma. Among them, the statement that can establish, in which what is expressed has similar property, is called having similar property. For example, "Whatever is made is impermanent, like a pot. Similarly, sound is also made." In this statement, the made-ness expresses the similarity between the made thing and the example and the subject to be proven. In which statement what is to be expressed has dissimilar property, it is called having dissimilar property. For example, "Whatever is permanent is not made, like space. Sound is made." Here, the made-ness expresses the dissimilarity between the made thing to be proven and the example of the subject, sound and space.

Just as it should be said. If these two combinations are also different in what should be said, then how can the three-aspects sign that should be shown not be different? Therefore, it is said that these two have no difference in meaning. Meaning is necessity, for what necessity is inference combined? Therefore, there is no slight difference in the necessity of these two. Because the three-aspects sign is to be explained, these two should also be combined for that purpose, and both ways should show the three-aspects sign. Therefore, these two also have no difference in what needs to be shown. In that case, there is not the slightest difference from that. Then, will what should be said not become different? Therefore, it is said, "Except for the difference in combination," combination is the word itself that is said. Other than the difference in expression, there is no other difference made out of necessity, that is the meaning. It is shown like this: what should be said is also different, and the necessity of what needs to be shown is also different. Among them, as far as what should be said is concerned, the words themselves are different, but what needs to be shown is not different. Mentioning following, the opposite can be understood from the way it is shown below, and the following can also be understood through the opposite. Therefore, the three-aspects sign that needs to be shown is not different. Wherever what should be said is different, the meaning that needs to be understood that is implied there is also not different, for example, saying "Lhasin (name) the fat man does not eat during the day," and the two sentences "Lhasin the fat man eats at night," although what is said is different, what needs to be understood is only one. Similarly, here the meaning of what is said is different, but what needs to be understood is only one. That "that" refers to the two inferences that have similarity and dissimilarity. For the time being, in order to give an example of the non-manifestation of similarity, it is said, "What is the characteristic of becoming manifest," etc., through the sentence "What is the characteristic of becoming manifest, what is manifest, what is non-manifest," this is a subsequent statement of the non-manifestation of manifestation.
