That is to say, it is the immediately preceding object of one's own realm, the sense consciousness that acts together with the realm. The immediately preceding similar sense consciousness acts as a cause, and whatever is produced by it, because it relies solely on the mind, is called the direct perception of the mind. Here, the term "immediately preceding object of one's own realm" can be understood as completely avoiding the fault of conceptualization arising from grasping and grasper, as well as the fault of grasping dissimilar realms. In this way, the direct perception of the mind is the second moment immediately following the object of sense consciousness, and it is considered to be that object. Therefore, the fault of falling into the absence of grasping and grasper is completely avoided. When the term "immediately preceding" is also used for similar things, how can it fall into the fault of grasping dissimilar realms? The phrase "produced by the immediately preceding cause of similar sense consciousness" also completely avoids the fault of falling into the absence of blind and deaf people. Because for the consciousness of the blind and deaf, there is no similar immediately preceding cause, namely sense consciousness. Therefore, some people say that if it is admitted that consciousness can directly perceive external objects, then it will fall into the fault of the absence of blind and deaf people, and this statement should be understood as completely avoided. All minds and mental factors are called self-awareness, because they are both all and minds and mental factors, so they are all minds and mental factors. Saying "all" is to completely include erroneous cognitions, and whatever clearly manifests their own nature, that is self-awareness. In this way, all minds and mental factors are of the nature of being knowable, and therefore they arise while knowing their own nature. For example, a lamp, because it has a bright nature, can illuminate itself at the same time as it arises, and illuminating its own nature does not depend on other lamps. Similarly, minds and mental factors do not depend on other knowledge to know their own nature.

Therefore, self-established entities are directly perceived by themselves. As for "the knowledge of a yogi arising from the extreme of cultivating the true meaning," "true" refers to the meaning that is not inverted, namely, the Four Noble Truths. Cultivating them is cultivating the true meaning, and "cultivating" means familiarizing oneself. Its extreme refers to the yogi arising from the extreme of cultivating the true meaning, where "true" refers to the mindfulness, the stage of warmth, the peak, and the stage of forbearance. Its extreme refers to the extreme of cultivating the true meaning, and the extreme is the supreme Dharma of Dharma. What arises from it is what arises from the extreme of cultivating the true meaning. "Yoga" refers to concentration. Those in whom "it" exists are the yogis. Their knowledge is the knowledge of the yogi. Thus, by the power of cultivating it, the past, present, and future objects appear clearly, and they possess an undistorted aspect. For example, by the blessing of gods, the knowledge that arises has the aspect of past and future objects, and it is undistorted. Similarly, by the power of yoga, the minds of meditators clearly perceive objects that are past, future, distant, interrupted, and subtle, and they possess an undistorted aspect. Therefore, it is considered to be direct perception. The reasoning here is that the knowledge of yogis who have attained single-pointedness of mind without remainder, possessing objects that have occurred and will occur, namely, the immeasurable objects that have occurred and will occur, is a cause for showing them without error, therefore it is valid cognition, like the knowledge of a special spirit or demon possession. Just as those that are not valid cognition, the immeasurable objects that have occurred and will occur, also do not become the cause for showing them without error, like the knowledge of a madman. If there is no attainment, then the immeasurable objects that have occurred and will occur also do not become the cause for showing them without error.
