Extensive Commentary on the Drop of Reasoning, Deva of Discipline Extensive Commentary on the Drop of Reasoning Deva of Discipline In Indian language: Naya Bindu Tika. In Tibetan: Extensive Commentary on the Drop of Reasoning. Volume One. Homage to Manjushri, the Youthful! I prostrate to the Sage, the supreme speaker, who speaks of the path of reason as completely pure, and the object to be tamed, which cannot be established by reason, as the supreme pure. I will analyze each word and phrase of the Drop of Reasoning. Since correct knowledge is the forerunner of accomplishing all the purposes of a person, the first phrase, "It has been taught," indicates the commentary, purpose, subject matter, and ultimate purpose of this treatise. Treatises or analyses that are unrelated, unnecessary, or without a subject matter are not accepted by those who prioritize reasoning. To dispel the confusion of what should be discussed here, the subject matter is stated. To eliminate the need for a fruitless endeavor, the purpose is stated. To dispel doubts about the means, the connection is stated. Therefore, to generate joy in the listener, the connection and so on are stated. Among these, the phrase "It has been taught" indicates the subject matter and purpose beforehand. The connection is indicated implicitly. The implication is this: Since the treatise is composed to teach correct knowledge, it implicitly shows that the treatise itself is the means. If it were not so, how could one engage in what is not a means? Therefore, the connection is shown by implication. Here, "It has been taught correct knowledge" is the subject matter. Teaching correct knowledge is the purpose. Teaching correct knowledge is the nature of making it clear in the mind, and this treatise accomplishes this, therefore this treatise is the means to that purpose. Thus, the treatise and the purpose are connected by the nature of the means and what is to be accomplished by the means. In this way, by hearing this treatise, one will come to know the nature of correct knowledge without error. Therefore, the treatise is the means, and

We, with regard to the complete knowledge of pure wisdom, abide in the fact that it is to be accomplished by means of skillful methods. That itself is to be accomplished, and is related to the nature of accomplishment, the function, and the nature of the agent. Thus, accomplishment is excellent action; what is to be accomplished is the result; the agent is excellent action; the function is the result. Therefore, in order to fully understand correct wisdom, it abides in the statement that this is merely excellent action. Even if it is established in this way, if someone asks, what is the use of fully understanding correct wisdom? It is not needed anywhere. Therefore, it is like examining the teeth of a crow, and you will be completely exhausted in vain. Therefore, in order to state that the accomplishment of all the purposes of beings is preceded by correct knowledge, this is said, and it shows the necessity of necessity. Therefore, the meaning of the words is this: because correct wisdom is more necessary than the accomplishment of all the purposes of beings, therefore, one should strive to fully understand it. Fully understanding it comes from excellent action. Therefore, in order to fully understand the necessary correct wisdom, this excellent action should be undertaken. This is, for the time being, the meaning of the summary. The meaning of the limbs is, because correct wisdom is the forerunner, it is said. Here, non-deceptive knowledge is correct knowledge, which does not deceive the one who acts, but that which is not mistaken is not correct knowledge. If that is the case, then the excellent action will exclude the tenets of the Yogacara school, because the excellent action wants to follow the tenets of the Sutra school and the Yogacara school. Therefore, in order to include the tenets of both, it should be understood that non-deceptive knowledge is correct knowledge. That to which correct knowledge is the forerunner is that which has correct knowledge as the forerunner. The word "fore" indicates that this is the cause, because the cause is independent of the result, therefore it is said "fore," meaning having the cause of correct wisdom.
