It should be reduced. The meaning of "by its own nature alone" is that it is intended only as what is to be established, and even if it is the establishment itself, the addition of the phrase "is or is not" is to show only the nature of what is to be established, and it is only called the subject, but it is not to abandon other natures. What is it that shows that it also possesses other natures to be established? For example, in the example of sound being impermanent to be established, the reason "being apprehended by the eye" itself, because it is not established in sound, it is said "is it to be established?" If someone says, "Sound is impermanent, because it is apprehended by the eye," then his "being apprehended by the eye" is not established in sound, so it is to be established. Therefore, without adding, showing "being apprehended by the eye" also becomes the fault of being only the subject. If there is the nature of what is to be established from that, why is it not the subject? Because here it is only said to be established, so it is said that it is not intended to be only what is to be established. Although "being apprehended by the eye" itself has the nature of what is to be established, however, when showing it as a reason, it is not only its own nature to be established, but also the nature of establishment. Therefore, although it is to be established, because there is an additional nature of establishment, the added words prevent it from being the subject. The meaning of "self" is, at that time, what the establishment said by the opponent is, meaning, having said the establishment, what is the meaning to be shown by oneself, that is only the subject, and not the meaning to be shown by the author of the treatise, this is the concluding remark. Therefore, because what the opponent wants to show is only explained by the subject. If even relying on some treatises to say the establishment, it means, temporarily relying on some treatises, the certainty of being the subject, that is uncertain, but if promising the treatise, even as a valid means, this is also the concluding remark, meaning, even if the author of that treatise promises many treatise establishments, it means, which treatise the opponent relies on to say the establishment, who is the author of that treatise.

Therefore, even if many dharmas are accepted for the subject of mistaken cognition, nevertheless, at that time, whatever dharma the debater wants to establish should be established, and not the other, it will be shown. That is to say, only the dharma that the debater wants to establish should be established, not the intention of the author of the treatise. Just like this, when the debater admits the side that he wants to prove, even if the debater speaks in the way of admitting the treatise, only the dharma that he himself wants should be established, and not what the author of the treatise admits, it will be shown. The word "want" explains the meaning of wanting to argue for establishment. The meaning of establishing the basis of the dispute that arises from the dispute is what is called "wanting." Even if it is not spoken, it should be established, that is to say, even if the object of mistaken cognition is not expressed in words, nevertheless, that is only what should be established. Why is that? Because that is the basis of the dispute. Therefore, only on that is there a dispute, because what is the dispute about, and how is that? It is not just what should be established. What is the basis of the dispute, even if it is not expressed in words, is it wanted to be established? Therefore, for example, because it is an aggregate, the eyes and so on are for others, like the limbs of mattresses and cushions and so on. For example, just as the limbs of mattresses and cushions and so on are the nature of an aggregate, so they are seen as being for others, similarly, the eyes and so on are also the nature of an aggregate, so they are for others, this is the meaning of the combination. Here, even if it is not said "for oneself," it should be established as being for oneself, that is to say, in this combination, even if it is not said "the object and so on are for oneself," it is only established as being for oneself. If it is not like that, if it is only for others, it will become establishing what has already been established. It is only established because of the mistaken cognition of oneself, therefore, that is what should be established.
