Answer: Yes. Although there is a classification of proximate causes, even so, there will be doubt that happiness and so on are the same cause as consciousness. Because, it is thought that the difference in effects is the difference in causes, and it is also thought that the proximate cause of consciousness and happiness and so on is the same, then how can these not be considered to be of the same nature? Therefore, it is precisely because the sameness of nature is prevented that the other party does not consider these proximate causes to be the same. Moreover, he should have only explained that the proximate causes are the same, but the author's effort to explain that the aggregates are not different is considered fruitless. If someone thinks like this, then, for the time being, regarding what is said that the nature of the proximate cause does not have consciousness, this is saying that this is the characteristic of the proximate cause. Whatever arises is the one whose continuum changes, and the one who has the dharma of continuum change is the proximate cause of the other. For example, when clay transforms, the proximate cause of the pottery that arises is like clay. Although the proximate cause of the sprout is the seed, but because it is seen that the sprout arises from the middle part, isn't everything transformed? No. Because the seed is not a single substance, but an aggregate of minute particles, so its skin, husk, and heart parts are different causes, and the sprout arises from the heart part. Similarly, it is also explained which part of the rubbing wood produces the continuum of fire. Similarly, the skin, flesh, juice location, and seed parts of a single nagaraga fruit, from the perspective of connection, are different causes from flowers and so on. Similarly, the place where the fire of the flint arises, when struck with an iron hammer, fire arises from the broken fragments, and its own place of arising is transformed. When fire arises, some parts of the heartwood of the firewood will become the substance of fire, and some parts of the aggregate of minute particles that enter the gold will become smoke. Some of the parts that become fire will also become charcoal, and some parts of the bark will become ashes. Therefore, for such substances that are aggregates of minute particles, the characteristics of the proximate cause are not confused. Even so, water

From the unchanging nature itself comes the flow of water, from flint comes fire, from the collision of the two comes the sound born from contact, from a fan comes the abundant arising of a collection of wind, from milk comes yogurt and cream, from yogurt comes butter and ghee, and from gold ore comes slag and gold. Therefore, some do not require a proximate cause. If yogurt and so on also equally require a proximate cause, that is also unreasonable. Because, whether or not it depends on a co-actor is superfluous. If different natures arise from one proximate cause, then different and non-different things would be without cause. If various things become causeless, then in all cases one must rely on different proximate causes. If you say that, then the seed of water, which is the ray of moonlight, only from the contact with water crystal, its power awakened, from that alone does water arise. If you ask, how does it arise from dissimilar kinds? Have I not known the distinction between similar and dissimilar kinds until this time? What is seen to arise from what, that is similar to it, and the other is dissimilar. What sentient being would doubt that the water arising from water and water crystal, which are different in form, taste, function, and qualities, are devoid of difference? The collection of light that becomes the proximate cause of water, although awakened, what is seen is unprecedented. Therefore, what produces the characteristic of reversal is other, and what is seen is also other. From the collection of sunlight produced by fully examining the power with flint and wisdom, the arising of fire should also follow this same principle. For wind, in a covered pavilion and in the direction of empty space without wind, silk and cotton, etc., move upwards or downwards, from which it can be inferred that there exists an invisible subtle collection, which, when a fan is vigorously waved, the co-actor causes it to increase, and what becomes the object of visible experience, that is the proximate cause, not the fan. These very collections enter the gaps in the wall, the co-actor of collision
