Therefore, the expression is done later. If one wants to express when seeing an object, then the object will change because it is momentary. Since it is no different from the object, the consciousness that possesses the object also changes. Therefore, at the time of expression, since there is no object and no possessor of the object, it would lead to the fault of an expression without a grasped and a grasper. The meaning of this is: when establishing the grasped and the grasper, and the sound, those that have already perished cannot express. For example, when establishing the sound of a cow, it is like a cow that has already died and has been blind for a long time, and Devadatta. The nature of happiness, etc., and consciousness also perish at the time of establishing the sound of seeing happiness, etc. If there is seeing of one's own nature, then sound can be established. Even if it exists, if sound is established, then one's own nature and consciousness perish as soon as they are seen, so they do not exist at the time of later expression. Expression is the holding of the particularity of sound, and it is pervaded by those who have the grasped and the grasper, so there is no pervader. Someone thinks that even if the self-cognition that has perished cannot definitely combine the expression, the other consciousness that arises after the moment of establishing the sound uses it as an object to express. To this, the sutra says "others also". Whatever meaning has perished at the very moment of establishing the sound, how can the consciousness that arises after the establishment of the sound cognize it? Since it is not consciousness, these objects cannot be stated and combined by others either. Or, this has another meaning. Someone doubts that consciousness cannot establish sound, but other consciousness establishes sound. To this, the sutra says "others also". This is what is said: For the time being, others cannot take things that arise simultaneously as objects, because there is no action that can benefit simultaneous things. Even if they are not simultaneous, other consciousness at that time is not consciousness because the nature of happiness, etc., has changed. In the aspect with characteristics, only consciousness itself is to be cognized, not the meaning. Therefore, other consciousness cannot take the nature that has already perished as an object.

However, it is the very nature of self. If something to be cognized has its own form, even if knowledge applies sound, it is not so for things to be cognized that do not have the nature of happiness, etc. Because of clinging to the form of knowledge as its own nature, it is also desired to apply sound nominally to that object. But in reality, it is not applied in this way. Therefore, merely by focusing on past happiness, etc., knowledge appears to be mixed with sound, which will be considered to be with conceptualization. Because the reason for those with conceptualization is that they cling to being mixed with sound. Self-awareness is the very absence of conceptualization because it cognizes meaning that is not mixed with sound. This very inability to express is established for the sake of establishing non-conceptualization in self-awareness, and through the form of inability to express, it is also established that self-awareness is non-conceptual. Therefore, whether it has passed away long ago or exists at the time of the arising of knowledge, the nature of happiness, etc., as the object of self-awareness, when sound can be applied, it is considered to be in the sense of "not being cognized by other knowledge." It is not because there is no knowledge focused on happiness, etc. If that were the case, saying "past nature" would become meaningless. It should only be said, "because it is not cognized by others." Therefore, it is not possible to express and combine. Therefore, in this way, it is not the application of sound to the separate determination of the nature of happiness, etc., by self-awareness or other knowledge. Similarly, because there is no need, it is also not the application of sound to it, and this explanation is inappropriate because it is an expression for the non-arising, non-following, and non-common. The determination of the combination of sound is meaningless because there is no need. This word "again" is to accumulate the argument for the reason that self-awareness cannot be spoken of. From the verses, in order to establish that it cannot be spoken of, the inability to express is established as the argument, and this other (argument) is also spoken of from the connection. After establishing the inability to express, it becomes non-conceptual.
