Even if it is the holding of the object of investigation, if the intention cannot prevent it from being averted, then the reasoned thing will depend on other reasons, and the other reason is incomprehensible. Therefore, holding the object of investigation is the cause of the intention to prevent it, without relying on others. If even with this, it cannot be prevented by intention, then at this time, the independence of the universal function will be lost, therefore, the intention to prevent is the universal function of holding the object of investigation. Therefore, if the root consciousness has the holding of the object of investigation as a universal function, then it will necessarily have the Dharma that can distinguish it. Because if the universal function is prevented, then the object of the universal function will also be prevented. In order to show the opposition between elimination and elimination, the said discriminating consciousness is a separate observation, which can prevent the observation that does not match the object of the entering discriminating consciousness. Some of the discriminating consciousnesses such as blue that arise after the root consciousness cannot be prevented, are there no other conventional objects that take vases and the like as objects and discriminate on one and so on? Therefore, regarding the question of how the object of the universal function and the thing of the universal function can be established, it is arranged in this way: the discriminating consciousness that usually enters can prevent "this should not be observed in this way" with its own nature, rather than saying "there is no meaning of discriminating observation" by preventing the object. Therefore, the discriminating consciousness of one and so on, can also be prevented by intention during that time, so there is no confusion. If it is thought that the root consciousness can also be prevented by intention, such as when closing the eyes, it must be prevented by intention, then it is too much to be prevented by intention, then it is said that "the wisdom of the root is not". The meaning is that, for things that have a causal agent, the intention weakens the power of the cause, so that when the result is prevented, the agent is inevitable, but for this, the root itself is the entry and prevention by intention, not for the discriminating consciousness.

It is. Therefore, when the senses enter such a manifest state, one sees even if one does not want to see. That is what is said, called "stopping the mind of the ox." This shows that the mind of the ox has no intention. This, called "even if one discriminates as a horse," shows the intention for the opposite discrimination. Therefore, even if the mind of the ox has no intention and constantly produces the discrimination of wanting the opposite, due to the eyes and other reasons, it will be seen as an ox. Therefore, even if one prevents and obscures the discrimination of its object, and approaches other opposite discriminations, one cannot prevent the unwanted seeing, that is what is to be said. Therefore, since the consciousness of the senses cannot be prevented by intention, it is established that it does not hold the discriminated object. To explain the second fallacy, it is said: Being in a state of permissible proximity to an object, it does not actually depend on the entity of the cause. Since discriminations do not depend on the proximity of objects, they will change from holding the discriminated object. For example, the discriminated object is non-existent, and because of holding it, the dependence on the proximity of objects will disappear. If the consciousness of the senses also holds the discriminated object, then since it holds the non-proximate object, it will also become independent of the proximity of objects. Not depending on the proximity of the object, but only depending on holding the discriminated non-proximate object, and that is also universally present, therefore, just like before, it will become the nature of the fallacy. To explain that the two dharmas are universally present, it is said: Because the discrimination of the ox, which is called an ox and has the characteristics of an ox, etc., does not change merely from the proximity of objects such as oxen. This prevents the determination that it does not depend on anything other than proximity. On the other hand, it is said, "This is also not other," some discriminations are not independent of the proximity of objects. What is not? The entry called "this itself" is the remainder of the words. This thing, that is, the reality of the thing expressed by this word.
