What is said for the sake of the doctrine, the power of meaning is might. That which is near is with action. Not relying on it is not relying on it, just as sensory consciousness, the appearance does not depend on the meaning. Therefore, because the appearance does not depend on the meaning, the object of the senses is also like that, and that which is uncertain is also like that, holding it, that is, the appearance is uncertain. Because the appearance and the objects of discrimination are made one, it is said that consciousness holds the objects of the senses. For that very reason, here, grasping only stating one's own characteristics, wanting to establish non-discrimination, this is understood. Precisely because the appearance is uncertain, consciousness and things hold as the object of previous consciousness. Because what was seen before is that, thus uniting and entering. That which is said itself is called the discriminator. Discrimination is this, for example, making the objects seen before and after into one, this will be explained in this "who" by means of recalling signs. Then, from where does consciousness arise? It is said: Discrimination, with the ability to generate similar kinds of discrimination, established from the continuum, that is habit. What is instigated by it is generation, this explains the cause of the reversed grasping of discrimination. If consciousness is generated by the habit of reversed grasping, then, from where does the appearance of the form of the object appear to it? It is said: "From being related to experience." It means that from experiencing that object, the appearance of the form of that object appears. If that is the case, then the consciousness that appears uncertainly, accustomed to reversal, and generated by the habit of experience, at that time, all things will appear as all things, because the habit of experiencing all things and the habit of reversal are the same. To this doubt, it is said "some". Here also, "from being related to experience."

It should be connected in that way. Previously, it was only said that experience gives rise to appearance, but in this way, it is said because it is differentiated by some differences. What is said is that it holds together or separately. For experiencing the connection with meaning, one remembers the connection, and if one experiences something else, it is something else. Therefore, due to the difference in experience, some aspects of consciousness become like some other aspects. For example, if sound and meaning are accustomed to running together, they are held together, and if they are not accustomed to running together, they are held separately. Even for experiences that are separated by differences such as inferiority, they are considered separate, because the conditions for awakening habituation are incomplete. Therefore, since it does not rely on meaning in that way, it appears without certainty of meaning, so the consciousness associated with conceptual thought is mixed with speech, but not with sense consciousness. If someone thinks that the appearance related to sound is established by another meaning, then since it is not an external difference, all appearances are not made by the external. Then there are two kinds of sound appearances: one that follows itself and follows the opposite, which is the consciousness of hearing, and the other is the general aspect, which is what is understood by the consciousness. Among them, the general aspect does not depend on sound, so what harm is there to sense consciousness? If it is made by meaning, it would be a fault if it did not depend on meaning itself. But this is not made by meaning, sound expresses itself by its own nature. You think that sound expresses its own characteristics, so you say that sense consciousness should not appear as something else. Therefore, sense consciousness is also produced by the power of meaning,
