Because it needs to be examined, it should be explained from the treatises. Because all things that enter are the cause of interruption, there is a possibility of obstruction. Therefore, because it is a part of entering, it is only a preliminary action, not a direct cause, which needs to be explained. If purified, the seed of abiding, like a vase, is not entirely the cause of sprouts. Just as eliminating the inability, similarly, correct consciousness, unlike inverted consciousness, is not the cause of obtaining meaning, so it is said to be the cause. If the attainment and abandonment of benefit are not transformed by others, who would respect correct consciousness? Because of such doubts, to eliminate obtaining and abandoning from others, it is said, " निश्चित (Sanskrit Devanagari, niścita, Sanskrit Romanization, certain)," it is definitely transformed from correct consciousness itself, not from others. What accomplishes meaning is only निश्चित (Sanskrit Devanagari, niścita, Sanskrit Romanization, certain), not others. And the निश्चित (Sanskrit Devanagari, niścita, Sanskrit Romanization, certain) itself that accomplishes meaning is only correct consciousness. Does doubt consciousness also exist or not? Like "vase or cloth," it focuses on both parts. And the object to be obtained, the nature of both, also does not exist. When staying at home, one might think, "There is water in the pit," although clinging to one part, because there is no definite cause, the doubt of no water cannot be eliminated, so that consciousness is only doubt. Also, without reason, bees gather on the flame, from the certainty of smoke, the certainty of real fire is also like that. Let alone seeing the gathering of bees, even if seeing real smoke, before the time of inference, if one has not recognized the nature of smoke that contradicts the gathering of bees, etc., and as long as it is not completely distinguished, one will doubt the fruit of fire. Therefore, it itself is doubt. Even if the nature of the difference of smoke has been completely distinguished, one will not remember it at that time, because if one remembers, there will be no confusion. Even if one does not remember the nature of being certain as the fruit of fire, but because the necessary cause is not inverted, if one has mind, how can one not have doubt? Therefore, only from the smoke that has determined its nature can one know fire.

Even if only a part is taken from others, it is still doubt because the root of doubt has not been eliminated. Therefore, obtaining and abandoning can only come from correct knowledge. Even if there is a definition of valid cognition (pramāṇa), if it is said that the valid cognition spoken of therein is this, then for knowledge that is effective, etc., is it not only determined from mere terms? Even so, even without a definition, it can be understood from mere terms, because what is said from terms is valid cognition itself. The ultimate valid cognition that cannot be accomplished from terms is not the main thing to be explained, because this will be explained as: This is always stating the nature of conventional valid cognition. For this doubt, it is mentioned "for the unwise people," because people see that those unwise people are also attached to other things for the meaning of experience. For example, like what is said: "Without pervasion and elimination, it is for the meaning of abandonment." The treatises are for those people, not for the wise, because those people can only determine through terms. Even so, is it not that the chariot driver who does not understand the definition, like understanding the treatise, is the accomplishment of having a function without loss? What is the use of teaching for those people? If it is true that there is no difference in obtaining meaning, but because of being confused about the valid cognition of what is seen, it also increases what is not seen, therefore the treatise is to dispel confusion. For what is seen, if one enters into non-valid cognition because of being confused about valid cognition, one will be deceived, for example, like saying: "This is blue, because he is his son." Therefore, the treatise can also dispel the confusion about what is seen. What is called "that" is correct knowledge. Since it is not the main part of collecting meaning, it cannot be grasped, even so, since the treatise is the main thing, other wisdom can independently understand and grasp it, for example, like saying: "Bring the person whose house this is." The meaning of the teaching is what is needed for what, that is its meaning. What is that? For the author, it is to start writing; for the listener, it is to start listening. In order to comprehend correct knowledge, I, with correct knowledge
