The cause without distinction is that which has the power without distinction from that. For example, the seed that ultimately becomes capable of producing sprouts, with a collection of powers, becomes the cause without distinction from the seed, and the seed of the second collection, which has attained the final state and has the power to produce sprouts. Why? The cause without distinction is said to be the collection of causes, and it is pervaded by non-reliance. If it exists but is not capable, then it contradicts the very collection of causes that is non-reliant, and it becomes dependent on others. Therefore, the pervader is that when the cause without distinction is turned away from the dissimilar side by the object, it is pervaded by having the power without distinction. In inference, too, the so-called fruit in meaning is the nature of being able to obtain meaning from perception, which is the ability to obtain the cause without distinction. The unestablished self is also immediately abandoned. Therefore, like perception, inference that has become a function is also pervaded by the characteristic of being the measure of the agent, so inference is also the measure itself, and there is nothing other than those. That is said to be for the purpose of showing the characteristics of perception among the perceptions and inferences shown above. The so-called "that" is to distinguish the type of perception by object in order to show the characteristics from the collection of perception and inference. It is said for the purpose of showing the characteristics. The so-called perception is the basis of the name that is subsequently stated, that is, it should be stated by perception, becoming the perception of

In order to understand the nature of tranquility, for speech where the essence and characteristics of things are not established, then the characteristics are to be established. For example, for the statement "the sign of the wanderer is the topknot," just as reiterating the wanderer and establishing the topknot, here also it is to establish the nature of the knowledge that manifests, which is not known. From knowing the essence and characteristics, direct perception is non-conceptual, and it is said thus and so, "this is not non-conceptual." The relationship between name and named is also the appropriate occasion, because it is the occasion for stating numbers and so on. There is also not the slightest need, because the characteristic is the meaning of dispelling mistaken understanding. Even if one names it according to one's own desire, for the meaning expressed by the term "direct perception," one will not be able to dispel the mistaken understanding of others. If, for that thing, the other person changes the name in this way, even so, these are not the meanings to be expressed by the term "direct perception," because the knowledge that manifests is what is to be expressed by the term "direct perception," and being free from conceptualization and non-confusion itself is its distinction. For example, sound, the nature of being audible, is already fully established; for the sound to be expressed by the term "sound," it is to establish the impermanence that was not previously established, not to establish the relationship between name and named that was not previously established, just like that. The knowledge of direct perception itself, and the appearance itself, and the manifesting itself, and the reliance on the sense faculty itself are already widely known. After reiterating what is to be expressed by direct perception, it is to establish the characteristic of being free from conceptualization and non-confusion, not to establish a relationship between name and named that did not exist before. In whatever way, if one considers reiterating these things that are already fully established in another direction, then through those understandings that establish direct perception, the speech that establishes essence and characteristics will also be shown in a reversed way, because in the world, the speech of sound and establishing characteristics is not seen to be like that, it has already been shown. It is also not reasonable to examine it in that way, because on the other hand, those characteristics manifest.

That which is perfectly established on the basis of direct perception, or that which is established without a basis, can be discussed later. For now, it is impossible to be established without a basis. If it is established on the basis of direct perception, then what unprecedented thing does this statement want to establish here? We believe that it is precisely the difference stated by this statement that is considered acceptable by later common people. Therefore, this method of establishing and subsequent saying is reasonable. Here, it is not to exclude other definitions, but to eliminate misunderstandings. Therefore, although merely stating 'free from conceptualization' has already distinguished inference, saying 'non-deceptive' is to counteract the inverted perception of the object to be grasped by the consciousness impaired by eye diseases, etc., that is to say, 'free from conceptualization' is also to eliminate this inversion. Like this, that which is non-deceptive in its ability to function is non-deceptive. If so, then the consciousness impaired by cataracts, etc., is purely deceptive in its meaningless endurance of the object to be grasped. Similarly, inference is also deceptive because it grasps what is not that as that. Therefore, by saying 'non-deceptive,' inference has already been excluded. And 'free from conceptualization' itself is to eliminate misunderstandings. Therefore, even if each definition can establish the distinction against
