It is for the sake of proving and because it is reasonable. Seeing itself is not the agent of all things, because even without seeing, it has its own cause and connection. From where does it eliminate the hidden? If it is said to be consciousness, if the consciousness that sees is called seeing, then, because there is seeing consciousness, the meaning of being called the seen object is obtained, this is the meaning. When the other exists, the unrelated other exists, it is not necessarily produced. By what is it obtained? When the other exists, the unrelated other does not necessarily exist. Some think that when any other exists, the other does not necessarily exist, however, when the nature of consciousness exists, even without connection, it can be established that there is a knowable object of seeing. Therefore, existence is established from the consciousness holding the object. If it is thought so, it is said to show that necessity: because of seeing, that is, because there is seeing, it is admitted that existence is real. If it is thought so, it is unreasonable, because seeing itself has been previously refuted and examined, isn't it? Such a question will show this. The seeing that has been previously refuted and examined is what is answered here. Refutation and examination itself shows its own nature, that is, what is called seeing. As it is said, if it is admitted that seeing and so on are dharmas that are different from the nature of cause and effect, then what will become of the nature of the grasping and so on, the discriminating consciousness, or the nature of the knowable object? The fault has already been stated about this. Therefore, this is called a conclusion, that is, because the connection of cause and effect is abandoned, the consciousness that is different from the other cannot determine the object that is different from the other, how can it be obtained? Therefore, wanting to determine the existence of the object that is different from the other from the existence of the consciousness that is different from the other, it is necessary to admit that there is a connection between the establisher and the established. This is what is said, that is, that which holds the own nature of the object itself.

However, it should be established through being born from it. Having abandoned what is born, the determination to grasp the differences in what is taken, this itself is not abiding. Therefore, grasping its own nature is also its result, so how can one abandon it? Therefore, the reason for being able to obtain the meaning determined by direct perception is its result itself. Whatever is called direct perceptual connection, being a valid means of cognition by reason of its result itself, is the same for inference as well, thus it is connected. Because inference also has its result itself. 'From the signs of result and nature,' this is called the seventh of reasons, from the reason of the sign of result and the sign of nature, whatever inference there is, for that, this connection is also the same. This shows that because the sign of result and nature is the cause of inference, therefore, like direct perception, it is the result of meaning, because if the sign of result and nature is meaningless, it will not arise. This explains the nature of connection, that is, because it is the cause. Mentioning the sign is to show that the result and nature, determined as the sign itself, are the cause of inference. Determining the sign itself, the connection of the result is determined as the cause and the object of the result, and the connection of the nature is determined as pervaded by the nature to be proven. Therefore, the dharma of the subject itself is pervaded by what is to be proven, the sign itself known by the valid means of establishing, from that the knowledge of inference arises, thus it is said. The valid means of knowing, if the meaning to be proven does not exist, it will not arise, therefore inference arises from the meaning to be proven itself, which is separated by the knowledge of the sign, thus it abides. Because the opponent should acknowledge direct perception as a valid means of cognition by reason of its result itself, and its result is no different for inference, therefore it should also be acknowledged as a valid means of cognition. Whatever of any from any of the power of
