Since it produces a sprout close to the seed, the seed will not become the cause itself. Therefore, whatever thing follows the state difference or existence of something, that is its fruit, this is undoubtedly certain. Therefore, relying on things that are close is because things are produced, so non-existence contradicts the object itself. Therefore, what is understood as negation from something is another valid cognition. If it is also said that even if direct perception does not grasp the non-existence of things, it can still express it, then to refute the doubts of others, it is said: Direct perception itself ascertains the non-existence of things, meaning that the agent of ascertaining non-existence is direct perception itself, direct perception itself ascertains non-existence. From the opposite, it is from the opposite itself. It can be said like this: The knowledge of direct perception itself enters into some things and departs from some things. The object of entering is the expression of establishment, and the object of departing is the expression of negation. Therefore, the meaning here is that all direct perceptions are the nature of both, and through the way of entering and departing, worldly expressions are made. If it is also thought that direct perception relies on departure to ascertain the non-existence of things, then it is unreasonable to say that it does not exist and that it also understands. The other party's promise to understand is not correct, but it exists through departure. When it is said that non-existence is ascertained from departure, because it will become saying that it is not the difference of the function of direct perception, this meaning is not correct. Practice is contradictory. Showing the contradiction itself is saying that it does not exist, meaning that in whatever object, the object where direct perception manifests through departure itself, direct perception does not exist. If it does not exist, how can it become a certain cause itself or a holder? If it becomes a certain agent, holding things or producing things, then the non-existent direct perception is not the holder of things or the non-existence of things, and it cannot produce certainty either. Whatever holds

How can it be said to be a determination if it is not the cause of determining what is to be determined, through the means of making or generating determination? That which indicates this is that which becomes the agent or becomes the cause of something, that is understanding, that is, complete knowledge. Like this, merely holding or generating a direct contradiction is not the cause of determination, but when it is determined that it is not seen, it is merely the use of the term 'non-existent thing.' Because when it enters, it uses the term 'existent,' and when it contradicts, it uses the term 'non-existent,' therefore all terms are spoken in relation to it, but it is not the case that the contradiction is the agent or generator of the term for some direct phenomenon. Thus, determining non-existence is preceded by determining direct contradiction, and there is doubt about this. If this is said, then if this contradicts, that is, because of direct contradiction, it will be determined what is non-existent. Even if direct contradiction has already occurred from that, even then, it is still possible that the thing exists. Seeing the non-existence of a thing is not by direct contradiction, because it is the nature of being unseen. Therefore, because there is no determination, it is merely understood as non-existence, and it does not conform to validity. Seeing is determination because it is not valid for its own object, but not seeing is not determination of the non-existence of a thing because it is not valid. If there is still determination, what is it? If there is, then that possible determination is without error; if there is not, then it is the non-apprehension of what does not appear. This is what is said: even though seeing contradiction does not grasp the non-existence of a thing, if there is determination, then it is determined as being without error, and thus it determines non-existence. Therefore, because it is without error, it is valid, and because it is not direct perception, it is inference, so how can it become a term for non-existence without inference? Or how can direct perception itself determine the non-existence of a thing? To indicate that, it is said: 'That is by that,' which means that it is not a determination without error, but it is thought that it is not by direct perception. Establishing non-existence is determining one's own nature.
