If those things that exist in mutual exclusion should not arise from a single proximate cause, just as blue and non-blue are. Then, how do you think that non-omniscient beings can arise from a single stream of consciousness? It is said: If you argue and contemplate that an omniscient being and a non-omniscient being can arise from a single moment of consciousness, then that is not so. These things arise sequentially, and can only be from different streams. If a warm sensation does not arise from a stream that produces coldness, is it not so? If that is seen in some cases, what does it matter? The nature of consciousness, in ultimate terms, is the nature of grasping objects, and this has already been proven in the Pramāṇavārttika and here in the first chapter. On the same cause, previously there was the conceptualization of self by the non-Buddhists, and later, following the teachings of the Sugata, the conceptualization of no-self was seen. The possibility of conceptualization changing into a special state has also been explained. Therefore, it is not contradictory for contradictions to arise from the same cause. Just as happiness and suffering, which are contradictory, do not arise simultaneously from the same cause, but it is seen that they arise by way of kind. Similarly, even though the stream of the seed itself is mutually separate, the nature of the sprout and the nature of the seed arise. One might think that in the stream of the seed, the difference in nature arises from different cooperative conditions, and not merely from the stream itself, which is true. Because here too, there are cooperative conditions characterized by the actions of body and speech, and from merit and habituation, opposite natures will arise. The happiness and suffering arising from the senses arise from the objects that ripen the predispositions of happiness and so on, while the happiness and suffering arising from the mind arise from effort and so on, and not merely from the stream itself. Therefore, it is contradictory in a single moment, but sequentially, it depends on the cooperative conditions, and from that same cooperative condition, contradictions arise, so it is not contradictory. Thus, since there is no contradiction dependent on the cause, for the time being, not seeing detachment and omniscience in one's own stream, it will not change at other times.

It cannot be expressed. Similarly, it is said that one cannot deny omniscience, freedom from attachment, and the present moment in the minds of others, because one has not seen the unerring results of attachment and so on. If attachment and so on had unerring results, then not seeing them, inferring attachment and so on in the minds of others, would harm freedom from attachment. Since inferring attachment and so on has no result, how can it prevent freedom from attachment? If one thinks, "If he had the distinguishing characteristics of freedom from attachment, how could we not have seen them?" it is said that the distinguishing characteristics of freedom from attachment and so on in the minds of others exist, but cannot be observed. The meaning is that the distinguishing characteristics of freedom from attachment cannot be inferred to be non-existent by seeing contradictory results, nor can they be inferred to be non-existent by not seeing their own nature. Such non-perception is not to be abandoned, which means that such non-perception is also not to be abandoned. Therefore, the differences that exist in the minds of others are not prevented by seeing contradictions because there is no inference of contradiction, nor by not seeing their own nature. It is also not possible for others to infer that one's own mind will not exist in the future. Inference at the time of existence has already been discussed. Therefore, beings are not without differences in their minds. If one thinks, "Even if the differences of beings are seen, they should not be abandoned, so is language also like that?" it is said that words are not like that. Because beings have differences, but they cannot be observed, therefore they should not be abandoned. If the differences of words also cannot be observed, then the differences should not be abandoned, because the differences can be observed, so not seeing the differences of words is to be abandoned. If, like not seeing all the earths and so on, words also are not all seen.
