For the object of inference, there is nothing that is not contradictory and erroneous, which is what we expect. Not only do I think so, but my teacher also thinks so, because he did not say that about the object of inference. For which object is it that is not contradictory and erroneous? The object that the teacher speaks of will be explained in the third chapter. The teacher also explained that it is unreasonable to deny something just because it is not seen. The word "what" that the teacher speaks of refers to the essence of the scripture. When explaining this, it is said, "If only because it is not seen." Here, the Vaiseṣika, in order to prove the existence of wind, the touch that is neither cold nor warm in a desolate place without trees and grass, is an attribute. If they think that this is the object on which the attribute depends, then the attributes of the things they see are not like that. Therefore, this attribute becomes the attribute of wind. When they say this, the teacher says, even if you think that the attributes of the manifested things such as earth are not like this, then how do you think about the unmanifested things? If you say that it is also because it is not seen. If you deny the difference of touch of the unmanifested things just because you have not seen it, that is also unreasonable. Whatever does not depend on earth etc., and has no object, that is the invisible unmanifested thing. Because if it is not like that, then it is only without an object. Therefore, any negation is unreasonable. The teacher refuted and examined in this way, how can the negation with the reason of only not seeing be reasonable? Because for you, the contradiction of the reason is established only by not having an object, and because that reason is established, it is only reasonable, it will not be unreasonable. Therefore, it is unreasonable to deny it with the reason of only not seeing. Having said that, the teacher does not deny it with the reason of only not seeing. After determining the teacher's point of view in this way, in order to examine what is said, "only because it is not seen," that is why "touch" is said. The definition of an object is an object, that is

Since it is the cause of transformation, isn't it only reasonable to refute touch? If it is said that ordinary touch is the object, then the refutation stated by the other party is: it is not reasonable. That "that" refers to appearance. Wherever the nature of "that" exists, that is the nature of "that." Wherever the object of the nature of "that" exists, it is in the object of the nature of "that," because it is both appearance and exists in the object of the nature of "that." That itself is just that, because that is not a negation. Non-appearance, non-apprehension, are of two kinds: one is what is extremely unsuitable to be seen, and the other is what is suitable to be seen but has a non-appearing object. For example, the object of appearance and non-appearance is like a meat-eater, or in the object of non-appearance, like a pot. Therefore, by non-apprehension of appearance, to negate what is suitable to be seen, one should negate appearance on the appearance of places and so on. The Vaibhashikas, on the other hand, take earth and so on as a generality of appearance and non-appearance, and then state the refutation. For the object of non-appearance, it is not reasonable here to refute merely because it is not seen. If it is said that seeing the nature of blue as different from yellow, and knowledge as the opposite of non-understanding, and fire as the opposite of non-warmth, then is not seeing also a kind of statement? The seen blue and so on are different from the nature of yellow and so on, but not seeing may also be another situation, so this is not a doubt. Similarly, for the appearance of time and so on, if the difference of wisdom is not seen, then how are the appearing things of earth and so on separated from its nature, and not seeing is also like that? If here there are other thoughts about what is not seen, then there should also be other doubts about the non-seen objects such as the consciousness of close attainment. From the doubt, it is explained that what is connected with the generality of earth and so on will inevitably be suspected of having a touch that is neither cold nor warm, but it is not necessarily so. Why? Because from some appearing objects, even if it is oneself, there may be differences other than what is seen, so it is explained that: cotton, stones, leaves, flowers, and other appearing things, oneself
