If not (མ་ཟ་, ma za) is also a reason, then here also, to show that it is a reason, in whatever way or other is fine. Therefore, in order to specifically exclude, if some words are added, then there is no addition. Therefore, how can that which is said to be not a reason elsewhere be stated as a reason here by saying "in whatever way"? Then, why is "in whatever way" said? Because it is thought that, just as it is said, on the object to be proven, the basis of the property of the side is not established, similarly, on the dissimilar side, the basis of reversal is also not established, in order to dispel that. Whatever is said as "absolutely not wanting this to have a basis," if the object exists, then the reason may be established, therefore there will be doubt about the reversal. If it does not exist, then because it does not exist, it will not apply to it, therefore the reversal is certain. Because it is said elsewhere that it is not a reason, therefore even if it is not observed, there will be doubt, thinking that the reason will not return from the dissimilar side. By adding the unestablished, doubt arises about the reversal, which is saying that the reason itself is negated. Merely because of not seeing, not accepting the reversal, in order to show the other, therefore it is said "audibility itself." Audibility itself, the teacher said, is a common non-decisive. If because of not seeing it becomes a reversal, then in proving that audibility itself is not permanent or impermanent, on the dissimilar side there is not seeing, therefore by establishing the reversal, it will become understanding. Because for permanence and impermanence themselves there is no seeing, therefore it returns from that. Therefore, permanence and impermanence those, precluding distinctions, become the reason for understanding. If because of not seeing, audibility itself returns from that, then how will it be understood as the reason for distinction? Therefore it is said "distinction is." Like this, from what it returns, what is the return from that, other than that there is nothing called distinction. Distinction from the object of return is the return itself. Therefore, that which is certain that something returns from something, that is the meaning of the characteristic of return, it is certain that it does not exist on the object that has the property of return.

Therefore, the opposite of this is exclusion. So, in your school, how do you not exclude the unheard-of audibility of permanence and impermanence? Answer: It is said, "Not exclusion." Because, from either permanence or impermanence, the opposition of audibility is uncertain. The opposition is uncertain because the connection with one is also uncertain. The dharma of things, if it is determined to turn to something, then it will be opposed from others, otherwise it is not so. If it is determined to exclude, if it is not the nature of opposition, then because the opposition is uncertain, it will not become exclusion. How is that? Answer: It is said, whatever is determined to be said to be absent in any realm, that is determined to be opposed from it. If it is so determined, then it exists in some thing, if it exists, then how can it be determined to be absent in any place, it will not be understood as absent. How can one understand without understanding that it is absent in any place. If one cannot understand excluding others, then it will not be determined to be opposed. But it is not so, therefore, excluding others is the determination of opposition. Although there is unseen, it is not excluding both permanence and impermanence, because there is harm from other valid cognitions. The thought is this: where there is no harm from valid cognitions, there is opposition for the reason of unseen, therefore exclusion can be established. Even if it is unseen, but where there is a valid cognition that harms the opposition, there is no determined opposition, or there is exclusion of others by its nature, and there is also harm in this. In order to show that, it is said that the nature of mutual exclusion is opposition. Those who have nature, by excluding one of permanence or impermanence, are the cause of establishing the other of contradictory dharmas. That which is established is also not prevented. When impermanence is excluded, permanence is established, and again, that reasoning prevents permanence, if it is the reasoning of excluding permanence, then one to one, at one time, because establishment and prevention contradict, none is exclusion. Establishment
