Because it is momentary and non-momentary, it is called abiding in a moment. After being born, it does not abide even for a moment; if it did abide, it would never change. This has been said many times. If it is said that the nature of things is not called destruction in the world, but rather that the thing itself does not exist, then others will say that this is its nature. As long as samsara exists, the weak who are associated with ignorance cannot fully understand all the phenomena that appear. The so-called "non-abiding" dharma refers to the fact that it will definitely change after the time of existence, even if it is seen at the time of existence, it was not so before. Although the nature of such change is seen, it cannot be determined at the time of seeing, because for the weak who have ignorance, what is seen is not clear. Because its nature is definitely determined at the time of change, therefore, the so-called "later" refers to the time when its nature is determined, by virtue of its particularity, by the power of that determination, that thing is determined as non-abiding and having the nature of destruction. People in the world do not understand that destruction itself is the stage of change. If it were not so, there would be no such connection as "the pot is broken" or "the destruction of the pot." Things and non-things exist in mutual exclusion, and there is no connection between them, but there is a saying of "connection." Therefore, although the one who speaks of destruction understands that the nature of things is the dharma of change, and that it is the particularity of the time of determining change, it is because of the confusion of existence and non-existence. It is merely self-righteous to say, "I understand that the stage that does not contradict the stage of existence is destruction." To show that there is no harm, it is said: If things are established, then are there some things that are uncertain but will definitely change later, like sentient beings? The answer is "yes," because it is seeing the change of things that are not understood. For example, even if you see a poison that you do not recognize, you cannot determine that it has the ability to kill, but it will be determined when it changes. When you see it, it is only by virtue of the fact that "there is an uncertain dharma" that it is a metaphor.
