Regarding the meaning of abiding, no one is allowed to enter, but rather it must be merged with appearance, and realized through direct perception. To achieve this goal, only those who outwardly seek meaning and aim for meaning can enter. Therefore, by means of "sound" and so on, sound is that which has the ability to function as its object, and is itself a valid means of cognition. Regarding the unseen meaning that is like what is seen, sound is merely a suspicion of being mistaken. In this way, the meaning of sound is harmed by direct perception and so on. Therefore, where sound is a valid means of cognition, there is a suspicion of being deceived; and where it is the meaning of unerring wisdom, there it is not a valid means of cognition. Because there is no scripture that is man-made, and there is no connection between meaning and things, therefore a false scripture is also meaningless and incomprehensible. Moreover, the word "also" indicates that the direct perception and inference of the object of the eon are also the same. Merely the reversal of direct perception can establish non-apprehension, thereby establishing the name of the non-existence of things. If it is said that direct perception is also the result of meaning, therefore reversing it does not reverse the meaning, then it cannot be said that merely reversing direct perception reverses the meaning. However, the so-called "incomplete causes and conditions," for direct perception, if the causes and conditions are incomplete, then if the meaning does not exist, it is close at hand, then non-existence is unreasonable. When the meaning of other objects of perception is gathered in one knowledge, that itself becomes incomplete causes and conditions. Therefore, it is said that one apprehends other meanings, but does not apprehend its own nature. For things that abide in this way, from the perspective of others, in order to establish the non-existence of things, one must take one's own reversed direct perception as a valid means of cognition. In this way, by taking it as a valid means of cognition, then the objects of perception of one's own reversed direct perception, whatever things come, should be negated. For the omniscient, everything should be grasped through direct perception, and the reversed direct perception of all others is not established, therefore the other is spoken of. Everything is not like that, because from the perspective of others, not everything can be grasped through direct perception, therefore it is not necessary to negate everything. Therefore, non-apprehension, which has the result of determining non-existence in this way, is taught.

Furthermore, isn't anything else that is a characteristic of the reversal of direct perception and inference a non-valid cognition? Answer: Whatever is an object of cognition other than the non-apprehension that has already been explained is that which has the result of the absence of the term 'existent' because it does not occur. Because it is the very antecedent of the mind that occurs. Because the very object of cognition is the existent of all existents, because that is the reason for the term 'existent'. Wherever that which has become the cause of the term 'existent' is absent, there the term 'existent' also reverses, because there is no reason. In order to explain that very thing, it is stated as 'the object of potentiality', which is whatever non-apprehension has an object that cannot be apprehended. The term 'absence of direct perception and inference' indicates its own nature. In order to explain 'having the result of non-occurrence', the terms 'consciousness of existence' and so forth are stated. Consciousness of existence and the sound 'it exists', and the term for taking an existent object, and so forth. That which has the result of certainty without the prevention of those. How is it? Answer: The object of cognition is that which precedes, that is, whatever has a cause. Because the very object of cognition is the existent of all existents, therefore, that itself is the cause of the consciousness of existence, sound, and terms, and because that is absent, those are absent, it is certain. The non-apprehension that is different from this is that which has the result of the occurrence of the term 'non-existent'. Because the reason for the term 'non-existent' that should occur is seen. The former, which was previously explained, is the consciousness of non-existence and the sound of such a form as 'it is non-existent', and the characteristic of coming and going without doubt, which is preceded by the certainty of the absence of a pot, those terms of occurrence, that itself is that which has the result of occurrence, and also, by the word 'also', it also has the result of preventing the term 'existent'. In order to explain that reason, it is stated: Because the place that is empty of objects such as pots is very well shown, it is the cause for the establishment of the term that has a very well established object. In the word-by-word explanation, the statement of the reason should be made, but in the commentary, the object is stated, therefore, this shows that the term for either one should be made in either one. The reason is the characteristic of non-apprehension.
