It is not like that. It must be acknowledged without a doubt. If it is not so, then saying that there is no need to rely on things that are helpful in all aspects would be unreasonable. The initial growth of a seed depends on the earth and so on, but they do not provide any help. Therefore, the thought should be this: permanent things should not depend, the permanent depends on the causes that gather together, so it depends on it, or because the difference of its own essence arises from it, so it depends on it, that is the meaning. If it is the nature of being able to provide help that helps that basis, why does only one object provide help? The very nature of things will answer the question of transcending and investigating that. This is what is being said: If we cannot distinguish the various natures of various causes, then it should be transcended and investigated by others. Do not ask us why this thing arises from this cause, but rather ask how the earth and so on help the seeds and so on, because they have become like that from their own causes. That is what is to be shown. All of this shows this meaning: by merely thinking about it, things should be considered as having causes and having different causes. Because of this reason, it does not arise from this, but arises from others, this meaning is not something that a person should think about, just like "dependent arising is inconceivable." Therefore, what can be determined separately as working together with what, sometimes it can provide help, and sometimes it is the cause of gathering together, that is its true meaning. Similarly, if sounds sometimes arise from meaning, then like the basis, what is suitable for it will also become different. If there is no arising from it, then it will not be related to the difference of meaning, and from it

it will not become the very thing that distinguishes differences. If that is not there, that is, if there is no arising from that, then the sound of 'this is this' will not have the knowledge of the object of relation to be expressed. If there is no object, then the object related to that object will also not exist, that is what is said. If it does not arise from meaning, then not only is the relation of 'this is this' unreasonable, but also all sounds will not be in accordance with meaning. To show that it becomes meaningless is 'from meaning' and so on. For a while, from meaning arises seeing. From seeing, one wants to show that. With that desire, in order to know the meaning, one completely combines with that object, that is, one completely combines with the symbol itself. The sound that has been made a symbol for those meanings becomes in accordance with that meaning. For example, when one sees the meaning and wants to show the meaning, the actions of the body such as closing the eyes are able to be made symbols, so it becomes in accordance with the meaning. Thus, a permanent thing cannot be made a symbol by desire. Whatever thing is able to establish its own nature or another state by desire is able to be made a symbol. A symbol is the definite combination of a sign to show one's own thought. Therefore, whatever appearing thing has the nature of following the desire of a person, it will become a representation of that because it is created or arranged by its power at the time of one's own thought, like a list of trees and so on. Whether it is permanent or impermanent, whatever thing does not enter or leave by the power of a person's thought, the meaning from which one wants to reveal it will become in accordance with the meaning. In the time of the symbol and the time of the term and in the intermediate state, since it always remains with the same nature, in what way will one understand the thought? Therefore, whether it is permanent or impermanent, it is in vain, whatever thing does not follow the thought cannot be made a symbol. Relation exists in things, but the symbol is what one wants to make the relation clear. Therefore, this is showing this meaning, permanence is making the relation of things clear.
