Direct perception, inference, and scripture, any of these is a way of entering. Therefore, the non-apprehension of the characteristics of the reversed aspects of direct perception, inference, and scripture that are related to the self is a valid means of cognition. If one of them is reversed, it is not. Therefore, in order to dispel the doubts of others who think that by the reversal of the object of such a nature, one realizes that things do not exist, it is explained. That is not so, because there is no establishment of a thesis only for a particular object, because there is no action. In order to eliminate this, it is said that the establishment of a thesis enters. In this way, that which strives to show the meaning of a person closely is called a treatise, and the meaning of a person should also be shown by showing a convenient way closely. Therefore, it enters by relying on some means of accomplishing the meaning of a person, that is, as something to be said. If one does not consider showing the meaning of a person closely, then the treatise itself is a fault, and it is said "if it is not so" in order to show this. It is said "if it is not so," that is, if it does not show the meaning of a person closely. "Without connection" means an unnecessary meaning. Saying "expression" means speaking of meanings that are not related to each other, and that cannot become a valid means of cognition. Someone might think, since only showing the meaning of a person closely in the treatise, should all things be shown in the treatise? The answer is: Even when showing the meaning of a person closely, one cannot show everything completely without omission, because some things cannot be shown, and some things are not suitable to be shown. First, in order to show what cannot be shown, the answer is: For example, the self that is determined individually for each self, and the extremely moving sphere of the minds of those persons who are determined for the self. This is saying that since the sphere of the mind is not common, one cannot show to others what is not there, and there is no need to show it. Someone might think that those can be shown through the difference of reasons, the answer is: The determination of the reason does not arise from this way. This is saying

Yes. It is not possible to show by its own nature, nor by reason, because the reason is uncertain. In order to show that there is no doubt about showing what is near, it is said. What are the things that are determined by those places and times? Therefore, because there is no doubt in the occasion of showing the meaning of the person, it is not necessary to approach. It is said that the past and future things that are limited by time are those of non-existent nature, and are not needed even in some occasions of showing the meaning of the person. Now, for those who are limited by the place and are far away, it is not necessary to approach. Some of those who are near are also not necessary to approach. Therefore, those who do not need to approach are not the subject of the treatise. If you think that if those are not included by the scriptures, they should also be grasped by direct perception. Thus, for the kalpas, etc., it is called the kalpa divided by place, time, and nature. By its own power, it abides near, and wherever it is placed near, it is said so. What is that? It is said, what is the power to generate knowledge. It is said that some are able to generate knowledge indirectly, and some are directly. Among them, what is the indirect power? It is to abide in other things. Because it does not arise if it is not in other things, therefore it is called power by measuring by approaching. Therefore, to abide near by the power of others is the power of placing it near, not to abide near by one's own power. For those who directly generate discriminating consciousness, the power of generating discriminating consciousness abides only from itself, therefore it is called abiding near by its own power. Therefore, because there are things to be distinguished, it shows the power of abiding near by its own power. If it is not so, power and ability are different names, so it will not be applied to one. What is the meaning of the nature of what is taken? Because it is to generate the discriminating consciousness of the undamaged sense, it is what is taken, not the other. What is to be taken
