Therefore, since this is the case, then, with what sound-dharma is the distinction of one's own nature, which is based on other distinctions, understood? That sound is also called dharma because it relies on what should be expressed and is similar to dharma. A sound that has the object of other distinctions cannot be understood by others. For this reason, conceptualization and sound are not merely different names, but rather different objects, which is called existing as different entities. If the object of certainty, the very nature of imputation, is different and is the knower and the known, then there is no relationship between them that has the characteristic of its own nature. Whatever has a relationship is not the entity of the knower and the known, because the knower and the known are not appropriate for one's own nature. So how can the to-be-proven and the prover become its nature? It is true, but even so, what abides in certainty, what is certain as the nature of imputation, is not the knower, because no one seeks such a thing. The knower and the known are excessively proud of their own nature, because the pursuit of their own nature is complete. Therefore, the knower and the known are only their own nature, and it has its own nature. However, direct perception holds its own nature as non-different, while conceptualization shows it as if it were different, having been approached by the nature of imputation. When one understands one's own nature, which is separated by the nature of imputation, especially for the reason of one distinction, then turning away from other distinctions will certainly not change. Whatever is uncertain by certainty is not an object of certainty. Therefore, direct perception has its form, so it holds all natures, while conceptualization follows imputation, and even though it is certain of its own nature, it clings to the nature of one distinction. Therefore, whatever is the entity of the knower and the known, those themselves have become its nature, because what is approached by the nature of imputation is certain. Imputed

When the difference of relation is determined, and the object is made clear by its own nature, then those that are to be established and those that establish, which have become their own nature, also show difference. Its meaning is this: the nature to be established is established as different, and the nature of itself is similar to the established. Therefore, when one follows the realization of the nature of the established, one clings to the difference. The object of what is to be known and what knows is also due to the reason of the difference that is clung to, therefore, oneself is its essence. By its essence, this nature of relation is also called the reason of nature. What shows that the fruit also becomes a natural relation is because the fruit is also from the cause that produced it. Because it arises from it, the fruit is also its natural relation. Therefore, whatever is the natural relation, the fruit, and the knowledge of what is to be inferred from the nature, these two are valid cognitions, because they are without error. Because there is no error in the meaning of what is to be inferred. For example, just as the manifest appearance is valid cognition because it is without error. Why is there no error in it? Answer: Because it arises from the meaning of what is to be inferred. That it arises from it is "whatever things are exactly as they are," which has already been determined there. Then what is the difference between this and direct perception? Answer: Because it is not the appearance itself, it is not direct perception. This is what is said: Because the meaning has no form, it is not direct perception, and even if it is not direct perception, it is valid cognition because it is without error. Again, how is it that it is not the appearance itself? Answer: Because it does not arise from the object. Because the knowledge that truly arises from the meaning follows its form. The nature of the object to be grasped, if there is no cause of delusion, will necessarily make a distinction, and therefore becomes the cause of knowledge, and if it is not so, like the eye, it will not become what is to be grasped. Inference is not truly born from what is to be inferred.
