The absence of error is because the self-nature relationship is prior. Only those with relationships are understood, not others. What is a self-nature relationship? It is said: Because it is its own essence. Because what establishes is the very nature of what is to be established, therefore it is a self-nature relationship to what is to be established. If what establishes is the essence of what is to be established, then there would be no difference between what is to be established and what establishes. Therefore, others doubt that one part of the meaning of the proposition would become the reason. It is said: No. The reason for the distinct nature of the object of discriminating knowledge is the dharma. Because its distinctions are imputed, because they are superimposed. It is said that the distinctions of dharma are superimposed, therefore what is to be established and what establishes are different. What is to be understood and what understands are the very objects of determination, not the nature of things. Thus, what is to be understood is precisely what must be determined, and what understands is also the determiner that necessarily becomes determined. Determination is also superimposed, therefore the difference in the object of determination is also superimposed. For this meaning, the words of Acharya Dignāga are shown to be valid. This is because it infers after this, so it is inference after this, that is, the sign. What is to be inferred after this is the subject in the realm of the characteristic of the reason, and in the realm of pervasion, it is the dharma to be established, which is to be inferred after this. The difference in the terms of the sign and the subject to be established, the nature of that difference, all of that is only following the difference in the nature of dharma and subject that exist in the mind. Because of the nature that relies on the mind, it becomes a term of difference. If the terms of dharma and subject are imputed by the mind, then if that is the case, then the imputed reason would establish what is to be established. It is said: This is dharma, this is subject, the subject itself that is spoken of, that alone is imputed by the mind, but it is not the meaning of the nature of difference, but rather the self-pleasure of the mind's distinctions.

Those that do not depend on meaning are not the basis of meaning, because they are not the foundation of meaning. If it is admitted that meaning is understood from the object examined by them, then that is meaning, otherwise it will only become impossible to obtain things. Therefore, saying "this is a dharma with a basis, and this is a dharma that is based," and "is what is to be proven and what proves," is only examined by the mind. But the nature of the definite meaning of the external object and the examination of what is contrary to it are not. Again, how can one thing be examined as different? In order to show the reason for examining as different, it is said: Because all things are not something. Similar things are of the same kind. Different things are of different kinds, and from these things, by nature, that is, by their own characteristics that are not examined, they are called having a basis. Why are they different by nature? Because each has the cause of abiding in its own nature. This is what is said: Because all things abide in their own nature, and are not mixed with each other, therefore, since the natures are not connected, they are different from those of the same and different kinds. Because it is so, therefore, from the meaning of the point of difference, from what and what is different, the cause of the difference of that other meaning, the cause of the difference of the object with the special cause of the point of difference, the distinction of kinds, the difference of kinds, the expression of language, are completely distinguished and completely established. For example, one vase is different from what is not a vase, and other vases are also like that, and the common difference is also expressed in the kind of linguistic expression. What is the difference of one's own characteristics, that is understood, meaning that if the fabricated kind is understood, then the difference of one's own characteristics will definitely be determined, therefore understand that. Therefore, depending on other points of difference, the difference of universally examined differences is made an object by conceptual thought. Therefore, in order to show that, like direct perception, the nature of things that are different from many, one cannot be made an object by conceptual thought, it is said: Because what
