Because there is no function. It is also not mind, because it is not the meaning of sound, and because it is experience. It is also not the appearance of mind, because that is also experience. Therefore, whatever is said that "the meaning of words is that the meaning of speech that precedes salvation will become meaningless" is to be eliminated. Discrimination is common to things and non-things, related to the expression of non-trees, the external is completely non-existent, has existence and non-existence, falsely establishes meaning, the meaning of what is completely conceived, is to pretend to be able to establish and refute the external object. It is not mind, not appearance, not external. Although it is not falsely established, it is the external that has become falsely established. How should one understand the statement that "the discrimination of trees that exhausts one negation will arise"? If one says that "understanding negation from non-trees" is without experience. That is true, but whatever is certain is the object of discrimination. The aspects of what is grasped and what grasps are not certain, because they have no certain experience. Therefore, they are not the object of discrimination, but they are the direct perception of self-awareness. One's own nature is also not an object, because the meaning of discrimination is mixed with sound. Being mixed with sound is also whatever appears on the mind born from the function of sound, one's own nature does not appear at the time of the function of sound. Discrimination also establishes itself as the nature of determining its own nature by experience, therefore, discrimination is to show its own nature that does not exist, as it is said in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: "Sound and meaning, these have the same locus, although existent, non-existent is also declared." The nature of what is falsely established is the common determination of things and non-things, the nature of seeing the external is not the common of the two. Therefore, when it is understood as negating only from non-trees, and not negating from existence and non-existence, it will become understanding the common of things and non-things. Any nature of what is falsely established is the common of the two, and it is not clear.

Although it is different from 'la', it is definitely an external object. It is unreasonable for appearances and imputations to be similar in other ways. Even in the realization of emptiness because the nature of the external object is not empty, it is imputed as empty because its nature is not empty. Therefore, external objects and imputations are similar because their nature is not empty. The external object to be imputed will definitely change. Therefore, it is also understood that it is definitely returning from non-trees. Furthermore, if the meaning of returning from others is not imputed, then how can one realize the absence of others? If someone says that realizing the nature of fire is certain, then one can realize that there is nothing other than it. If one has not realized returning from others, is it not impossible to determine it as one? Therefore, the imputation of the nature of certainty itself is included in the realization of returning from others. Therefore, because one experiences 'I have realized returning', one does not say that one imputes returning from others. However, things and non-things are common, the external object itself, and the certain nature are the power of certainty. For example, although one has not experienced 'I have seen the general characteristic', even so, just as others infer, one can see the general characteristic through the power of experiencing knowledge with the aspect of the general characteristic. For this very reason, the meaning of conceptual thought, imputation, is also not the nature of establishment, but the nature of returning. If one does not grasp the ultimate nature of returning from others, then the determination of the three aspects mentioned earlier is unreasonable. Furthermore, the meaning of imputation with returning as the main thing is also called excluding others. Because the returning from others of the nature of imputation is certain, therefore, the meaning of the external object returning from others will be realized. Therefore, conceptual thought enters through the imputation of returning from others. For external objects, some kind of returning from others will be realized, but it is not one's own nature. Therefore, the imputation of returning from others is real, while the returning from others of the external object is grasped indirectly. The exclusion of others by negating non-existence becomes the object of conceptual thought through the power of meaning.
