Because it is appropriate. The meaning of sound does not depend on external objects, because even if all external objects are reversed or exist, the meaning of sound can be understood. If someone says that refutation and establishment do not depend on external objects, then they should be asked this: Just because you want to rely on the meaning of sound to establish and refute all refutations, can't you say that refutation and establishment do not depend on external objects? Even if you say it, what's the use? Then, how can it be understood that refutation and establishment depend on external objects? If you say that because there is no such external object, then it is true that there is no such external object. However, the dependent subject of the external object itself appears to be related to the refutation and establishment of the external object, which is obvious. If it is not a subject that is determined to be the nature of an external object, then how can it appear to be related to the establishment and refutation that depend on the external object? If someone says that whatever is not determined to be the nature of something is not related to the establishment or refutation that depends on it, then what is to be said here is that the meaning of the sound of a tree is not determined to be an external object. The kind of thing it determines does not exist in the external object. Like this, there is nothing in the external object except the one thing that is not a tree. Discrimination relies on the power of its own fully matured habits, relying on one reverse, so that the object to be expressed of the external tree is understood as the nature related to another reverse. Such a nature, the common, uncertain external object of things and non-things, does not exist. It is either completely existent or completely non-existent, but not a commonality of existence and non-existence. Therefore, the common nature of external objects, fabricated by discrimination, is the meaning of sound, and depending on it, establishment and refutation can be determined to be related to external objects. Even if it does not exist at all in the external object, this is established by discrimination as the nature of the tree of the external object, therefore, this is considered to be particularly attached to the external object, because it itself is not such an external object, therefore it is not the nature of determining the external object.

Says. As a subject, the meaning of sound is like this, it is considered to exist because the sound itself indicates it. For this, other valid cognitions are not needed to be mentioned. If what is indicated by the sound of "tree" does not have a subject associated with a single exclusion, then the negation and affirmation of other meanings, and the association, are unreasonable. If it exists, then is that itself the ultimate entity? Answer: It is considered to exist based on convention, but not ultimately. This ascertained subject is not the nature of mind, nor the nature of the appearance of mind, because they do not abide in the nature of returning from non-tree. It is also not external, because there is no external meaning associated with a single exclusion. Therefore, it relies on convention, meaning it is the nature imputed in the realm of convention. Discrimination is what shows its own meaningless appearance as meaningful. Therefore, in the manner of imputation, the meaning of the sound of "tree" is indeed determined to exist, therefore, other affirmations or negations are not related to its nature. If imputing on an invisible external object is also not to be negated, then how are affirmation and negation determined? Answer: The imputed nature, which is determined to be the nature of what, that is determined to be negated. It is also determined to be the nature of the external tree, therefore, it is determined to be affirmation and negation. Therefore, it is not mind. Nor is it the appearance of mind. Whatever the imputed nature is, that is also not it, and the external is also not related to affirmation and negation, however, the imputation is determined to be the nature of the external based on a single exclusion, and the external is related to affirmation and negation. When the substance of a rope is mistaken for a snake, the application of affirmation and negation is not mind, nor its appearance, and there is also no cognition of the imputed snake, however, the imputed nature is not determined to be external. Therefore, in the external, it has become its nature. Therefore, when saying the statement "there is no tree," the external tree is what needs to be removed, therefore it is negation.
