Because its dharma is not that dharma, but the opposite. Permanence and impermanence, etc., all things are also a collection of two. Therefore, if one returns from one, one will definitely enter the second. After entering, it will also bring its own realm closer. Therefore, if one returns from a certain dharma of things, it will definitely exist in another dharma, so there will be no doubt about anything. If it is not certain whether one returns from anything, then just because of the doubt that one will enter both, it is the cause of doubt. To illustrate this, it is said, "Therefore, just because of the doubt that it exists." Then, how should one listen so that it can be said to have the nature of returning? The answer is: Because it has not been seen to follow in anything, it is said to have the nature of returning. This is what is said: The sound of returning is to prevent seeing the following, not to explain the definite returning. The returning of the self-nature that has not been seen to follow is not what makes people understand. Then, what kind of thing makes people understand? The answer is: It has already been said that by not seeing the cause and not seeing the pervasive, one makes people understand what should be determined. Some people think that it will also become without following, so isn't it abandoning? The answer is that it cannot definitely show the returning without following either. If there is a connection, then if what is to be proved returns, the reason will also return. The connection is also its self-nature and the nature of having a reason arising from it. Its self-nature is its self-nature, and it is a measure with an object of seeing the cause, which makes people understand. This is what is said: If one sees the self-nature or the fruit somewhere, then some people will understand it as the pervasive, and some people will understand it as the fruit. The object of the definite measure in its self-nature, and the object of the measure arising from it, are the objects of following. Therefore, because of the self-nature and the certainty arising from it, the returning is determined, so there is no definite returning without following. Therefore, they are established in mutual dependence. If listening...

Audibility itself is the object of auditory consciousness. So, is it also the cause with its own aspect? If it is not momentary, it has no function. Therefore, in order to establish impermanence, audibility itself is the reversal from the dissimilar side. Just because it does not exist other than the subject to be proven, it does not mean that it does not follow. Therefore, if one says that audibility itself is not a means of understanding because there is no reversal, then, if the cause of auditory consciousness itself is audible, then it only exists in sound. By what contradictory measure is the pervasiveness of momentariness established, and the sound itself is also established as momentary. What else needs to be established by audibility itself? If it is not established at the time when the aspect of the sign is established, then it is established from the sign. The momentariness of sound is established at the very time when the following of audibility is established, so it does not depend on audibility. In this way, at the very time when the pervasiveness of existence is established, sound is not established as momentary. In this way, existing things are immeasurable, therefore pervasiveness is established in the common object. Just as the exhaustion of one thing cannot be shown to be without function by sequence and simultaneity, so it will be explained at the time of momentary destruction. Even if the pervasiveness with a common object is established, if there is doubt about the existence of sound, then it is not established as momentary, but for what is certain to exist, it is established. Audibility itself exists only in sound, so pervasiveness must be established there. Therefore, audibility or anything else that is uncommon is not a means of understanding, because the contradictory measure has already established the difference that one wants to know, so there is no need to infer it. Relying on one thing also cannot establish that there is no function through sequence and simultaneity, so how can pervasiveness be established? If certainty itself is following or reversing, then it will become a second type of sign, that is, it will become the basis of either following or reversing. If you say so, the answer is: This is not for negation.

Therefore, the ways of following and opposing are different. Like this, although the existence in the agreeing side is ascertained by valid cognition, it is not certain that the object to be measured does not exist in the disagreeing side in the same way. Whatever is certain is different from whatever is uncertain, and to show that this difference is also another way, it is not the only way. However, according to the way previously explained, these can be expressed with words of certainty. Since any one of these certainties can show the meaning, the combination of words is simplified, but this is not because they are simplified into one way of expression. As Master Dharmakirti said, "Either understood through meaning, or understood through implication, whichever way, as long as it is appropriately combined, it can fully express both." The word "or" depends on the chapter of the Compendium on Valid Cognition. Therefore, the combination is simplified, because the way of expressing with one combination is only different. Others think that for the non-existent existent, non-existence itself will prevent its existence. The non-existent existent, which is called the "basis," refers to the foundational ability of the place, and the ability of the agent, etc., represented by the word "etc.," because it is unreasonable there, because it is impossible, because it is impossible. Non-existence is because it is separated from all abilities. In order to refute this, the opponent ridiculed and said, "For the time being, even livestock say so." When seeing anything unreasonable, even if there is no ability to recall the previous and the subsequent, it will not stay there. For the refuter, it is only at the same moment that he is preventing other things that he will use himself. Therefore, from the perspective of livestock, it is also livestock, even next to livestock it is also livestock. Because this is slandering great masters such as Master Dharmakirti, what else is there that is more ignorant of oneself than this? Because the act of not knowing oneself is limited to this. In order to show that while preventing other things, one is also doing unreasonable things, it is said that the opponent uses words that express the opposite meaning, such as "non-existence is unreasonable for non-existence," etc., to negate non-existent things.
