In this life, those who are themselves ignorant and cause others to be ignorant, where do they have the opportunity to enter the ultimate reality? It is only for the sake of entering the ultimate reality that conventional knowledge is taught. The so-called "arising from thought" indicates that through this method, beings can also be led into the ultimate reality. If only conventional valid cognition is explained here, then when one enters the contemplation of meaning through the path of reason, the extraordinary wisdom arising from its cause, which makes the mind that perceives meaning familiar and accustomed, is devoid of error, free from defilements, and completely pure. Because it turns towards this, it is a "return," that is, it returns because it acts on the ultimate. The so-called "return" is no return, meaning "non-returning." Alternatively, "return" is a fault, and returning to samsara again is also a fault. Where there is no such fault, that is "non-returning." In the ultimate sense, it is the realm of Suchness or the supreme intention. To connect to this is the ultimate. Manifestation is production. Thought means this: ultimate valid cognition is not without cause, and the cause is none other than habituation. The object of habituation is also the meaning analyzed by conventional valid cognition, therefore, correctly understanding conventional valid cognition becomes the cause of ultimate wisdom. Then, the effort directed towards that object is the effort directed towards the ultimate object. Meditating on objects taken as objects by erroneous knowledge, such as the aspect of permanence, will not become the cause of ultimate wisdom, but if one meditates on the aspect of impermanence, it will become the cause. Therefore, one should dispel ignorance from that and enter into ultimate wisdom, because the object of this ignorance is coarse. Attaining the ultimate also requires the removal of this ignorance as a prerequisite, therefore one should strive for this. Therefore, "correct, incorrect," etc., through these distinctions, here, through the sequence of conventional knowledge, when ultimate wisdom arises, only a little is shown, and what kind of valid cognition it is, only a little is also shown.

Yes. That is the valid cognition of the nature of direct perception. If true knowledge is free from the aspects of grasper and grasped, or if all objects are also graspers, then it is excellent. In either case, it is direct perception. A commentary on the determination of valid cognition. The first chapter composed by the teacher Dharmakirti. Four thousand three hundred and four, five hundred sixty-three, twenty-two and thirty, that is two sixes and three. This first chapter has four thousand five hundred and twenty-two verses. Having shown that valid cognition is twofold through the distinction between direct perception and inference, and having explained direct perception through the gateway of eliminating the four types of misapprehension, we now proceed to the topic as explained. In order to eliminate misapprehension from all four direct perceptions that are the nature of knowledge, it is said that there are two types of inference. Just as all four direct perceptions that are the nature of knowledge have one common characteristic, so too the two types of inference do not have one characteristic, because their natures are very different. One of them is knowledge, and the other is speech. If the difference in types is expressed, then it is possible to show that the characteristics of the types are different. Therefore, if only the characteristic is shown here, then it will become one or many characteristics of difference. What is the use of stating its number? Thus, the dispute is rejected. Without closely showing the clear distinction in this way, it is not possible to show the characteristic of each distinct clarity. Therefore, the clear distinction is what should be shown. The difference in types is also the clear distinction, therefore, expressing the difference in types is solely for the purpose of understanding the characteristic. Because this is for oneself, it is for oneself. Because it is for others, it is for others. Doubt for oneself and need for others. Whatever inference becomes the cause and realizes itself, that is for oneself, it is knowledge. If realization is knowledge itself, even so, it is shown that even in one, there is a difference between what is done and what does. Therefore, inference is the doer, and the self of comprehension
