It is like this. However, what is similar to things is the nature of the apprehended aspect. If it does not become different even when it is not different from different things, then the establishment of things depends on experience, and not on the things themselves. Like this, even if the liking or disliking contained in the apprehended aspect is equivalent to non-things, it will only become the cause of things. Because from one thing, the fruit of mutually contradictory nature like cold and heat will not arise, so it is different. Because the difference arising from self-awareness taking and rejecting the aspect of things as it is is contradictory. The co-acting cause does not produce multiple fruits, because there is no contradiction. The Pramāṇavārttika says: "The immediately preceding consciousness is within, although suffering etc. arise." Here it is said that happiness etc. belong to the category of similar immediately preceding, and are considered to be the cause of previous habits etc. Moreover, the similar immediately preceding condition of happiness etc., depends on the condition that awakens previous habits etc., and when arising from different causes, it is not contradictory to rely on one co-actor. For example, for something that has never been accustomed to, as soon as it is put into the mouth, it can be inferred from the change in facial expression that the pain of the root consciousness has arisen. Later, when accustomed to it, it can be inferred from the relaxation of the facial expression that the pain has disappeared and happiness has arisen. Similarly, when accustomed to it in other lives, or accustomed to it in this life, when happiness etc. arise differently in each continuum, it will become the co-actor of the same thing's immediately preceding cause. Therefore, this explanation is correct. Because many things that can recognize external objects, by virtue of their respective aspects, will certainly become the cause of happiness and the cause of suffering. Moreover, since the thing itself is uncertain, things are established as they are. Here, this reason is not intended to deny the existence of external objects. However, even if external objects exist, self-awareness itself is not the knowledge of similar things as the fruit. Like this, external objects.

is the object to be measured. The aspect of what is grasped is the valid cognition. Cognition of meaning is the result. For those who speak of consciousness, self-nature is the object to be measured. The aspect of grasping is the valid cognition. Self-cognition is the result. Furthermore, in the manner of external objects, the second way of establishing the result is that the meaning is the object to be measured. The aspect of what is grasped is the valid cognition. Self-awareness is the result. Thus, here is the reason for establishing the result in this way. Why? Because self-awareness establishes the meaning as it is, therefore, even though there is an external object, the result is self-awareness. If that is the case, if self-awareness is the result, then is the valid cognition the aspect of grasping? Explanation: That which proves this understanding of meaning, which has become the nature of self-awareness, is that the valid cognition is like the aspect of its object, it is the very aspect of the object. Is it not the case that the aspect of grasping is experienced, and thus the meaning is established as being experienced? Therefore, is it reasonable that the aspect of grasping itself is the valid cognition? It is true that if one follows the aspect of grasping in one's own object and establishes the object, then it will change. Furthermore, when the external object is the object, then whatever is the reason for understanding the external object is the valid cognition. And the reason is also the aspect of blue. It is said to explain this very point that this self-awareness, without deviating from the aspect as it is, is for the sake of eliminating appearance. This is what is being said: If the aspect of blue appears, then at that time, this experience with the aspect of desire is considered to be an object of blue. Likewise, apply it to other aspects as well. Therefore, in the consciousness with aspects, due to the power of the aspect of what is grasped, which experiences the nature of desire and so on, it is established as having the object of meaning, therefore that itself is the valid cognition. If that is the case, is self-awareness itself the result in external objects? If so, how is the result established, and why is it said that cognition of meaning is the result? Explanation: Although it is self-awareness, it is from the result, from attachment, that one sees this as cognition of meaning. How does intelligence particularly cling? Thus the result is spoken of. Also, it clings in relation to meaning, therefore cognition of meaning itself is the result. However,
