Therefore, for understanding things, knowing things is actually truly knowing oneself, therefore, any knowledge that becomes its essence is the fruit of the existence of things. Moreover, clinging to the self-nature of knowing things will become knowing things. The knowledge that is determined to have an external object is only in accordance with self-awareness. Because, if the experience of grasping the aspect is experienced, then it is the aspect of desire, or the grasping object with a peaceful aspect. When inverted, the object to be taken as the object is also called desire, which is in accordance with the ability to distinguish and distinguish the cause of happiness and the cause of unwanted suffering. Therefore, even if one considers oneself to understand things, one follows the Dharma of grasping happiness, etc., and distinguishes the environment in order to conform to this. Therefore, even if it is determined to know things, knowledge should only be its own environment. Therefore, for those who proclaim consciousness in this way, clinging to the object as a thing, that is, the measurable is the grasping aspect, the measure is the correct measure, the object is knowledge, although the self-nature is the self-nature of knowledge, it is certain that the object is knowledge itself is the fruit. Just as the power of experiencing the grasping aspect is used to distinguish the knowledge of things, therefore, for those who proclaim consciousness, only self-awareness is the fruit. Similarly, even if there is an external object, it is as it is, and these aspects will not exceed self-awareness and accomplish things. In order to distinguish understanding, self-awareness itself should be the fruit. Is there no other external object? Therefore, if it is said that knowledge itself is the fruit, then it is said that even if there is an external object, it is impossible to distinguish it without exceeding the self-nature of things. The so-called all knowledge, if things can be distinguished as they are, then, since the self-nature of the external environment is unique, when happiness and suffering arise due to the existence of the grasping aspect, how do people who understand things determine that the consciousness of grasping the aspect of one thing grasps multiple self-natures?

Some assert that determining an object as the cause of happiness in this way is completely definitive. Others hold the opposite. Those individuals do not definitively determine the object as the cause of happiness or the cause of suffering. For the varieties of apprehended aspects, such as happiness and so forth, the nature of the object to be apprehended is not definite. Since happiness and so on follow habituation, how could the object be definite? Therefore, if the object is established as it is, then at that time, because the object is definite, all determinate consciousnesses that apprehend a single nature would become of one aspect. But this is not the case, because those who determine the object as the cause of happiness and those who know the opposite nature apprehend it as definite. Even if one particularly clings to a single definite meaning as the object, the consciousnesses with objects determined as the cause of happiness and so on are said to be of various aspects. This is explained as follows: aspects are known as diverse, because the nature is one and the same. For one person, it is pleasing, that is, desirable, meaning the thing called "desire." For another, it is seen as displeasing, the opposite of that, because of the determination. The intention is this: the nature of appearance is not the definitive cause of some happiness and so on that follows habituation; however, since it is the accompanying cause that awakens habituation, it is indefinite for happiness and so on. For someone who understands that meaning, whatever kind of habituation becomes the cause of awakening that kind of habituation, but not the cause of happiness and so on. If it were determined to apprehend it as it is, then such a determination would not exist, because the aspects of apprehension that know happiness and non-happiness and so on are different. Moreover, the aspect of apprehension is established as the very nature of the cause as it is. Therefore, even for those who speak of external objects, it is reasonable to follow self-awareness, because it is only the nature of self-awareness that establishes the object. Whatever has the state of appearing as desirable or undesirable, those are conceptual thoughts. This is said thus: things
