Because it contradicts the nature of non-consciousness, it is reasonable to establish similarity and the nature of consciousness as the object and subject of proof, which is the remaining part. Establishment is establishment, it is the establisher and the established. The thing that depends on these two establishments is itself, therefore. The meaning is this: our object and subject of proof are not the things to be produced and the producer, but they are the facts of establishment. Therefore, taking some parts as the reason, and calling it the knowledge of "this is experiencing blue", the only part that is the reason for the name is the valid cognition, and the other part as the part of the name is the result. The object and subject of proof are the same. Why? The answer is: because the thing, that is, the ultimate nature, has no difference, that is, it is the same. The meaning is this: because the parts of knowledge are the same, it will be inferred that the object and subject of proof are the same self, which is also contradictory. If the object of proof is not already established, then who will become the subject of proof? For others who have such doubts, explain: that is not the case, meaning that they are not the same. Explain the reason: because the various different dharmas of mutually dependent entities are admitted, this is the reason. If the parts of knowledge have no ultimate difference, even so, the nature of similarity and understanding of meaning will become a dependent difference because of relying on other contradictions. The names of the object and subject of proof do not depend on the ultimate truth, but they depend on the nature of dependence. Therefore, for things that have no difference, there is no object and subject of proof, and for things that have the nature of dependence, there is the object and subject of proof, therefore there is no contradiction. Someone thinks like this: then, will you infer that the facts of the object and subject of proof are dependent?

If one thinks that seeing the ultimate truth is also like this, this is explained. The terms 'what is to be accomplished' and 'what accomplishes' do not exist in things themselves. For example, when it is said 'Devadatta burns,' the act of inserting firewood is called burning, and this is not at all separate from the actor. Rather, the very nature of Devadatta, which has the nature of such an act, is shown as burning. Similarly, when it is said 'the axe cuts,' it also refers to the nature of the axe that is focused on cutting wood. If someone thinks, 'Even so, in the ultimate truth, action and agent are seen as different, but you only say they are non-different,' to dispel this doubt, it is specifically mentioned, 'Although things are not different.' Just as firewood and bean flour are dyed, it is not the case that in all cases there is a difference in the ultimate truth. Therefore, things are not different, and even the same thing can be proven to be different through the distinction of the cause of what is to be accomplished, and through the difference in the establishment of the objects of what is to be accomplished and what accomplishes. Even in the same thing, because it possesses various abilities, one can establish the agent, the action, the thing of the agent, and the nature of what is to be accomplished. There is not the slightest difference between what is to be accomplished and what accomplishes, or between the agent and the agent. For example, just as I say 'I praise myself,' because it possesses the ability of action and so on, and because it possesses the ability to follow the nature of what is to be accomplished, it is called the praiser, the praised, and the accomplisher. Therefore, just as firewood and bean flour are dyed, it is not the case that in all cases what is to be accomplished and what accomplishes are different. Similarly, even the same consciousness can become the agent and what is to be accomplished due to the difference in its nature. This is said according to the specific situation, and the agent is also consciousness itself. Therefore, even so, there is no contradiction in the fact that things established based on terminology are not different in the ultimate truth. Where they meet, they differ in each meaning, just like appearances.
