Now, it is the proximate cause, because the objects are different from each other. Therefore, saying "sense faculties, etc." does not include the objects. If the objects are different, then for consciousness, the similarity itself produced by the object becomes the proximate cause. If the distinctions produced by the sense faculties, etc., are the respective makers, then the distinction of experience produced by the cave, from the distinction of experience, one can definitely recognize things, not from the similarity with things. If one thinks so, then now, if one admits so, then how can one not speak of the nature of the action of existing things, which is intolerable to be similar to things, so the nature of that admission, that itself? The object of the term of existence is the nature recognized by valid cognition, and what is recognized by valid cognition can only indicate the things that abide in certainty, because what abides in conceptual thought is the meaning of sound. On the other hand, one cannot indicate that all experiences are this, for example, even if an unskilled person sees the shapes of gems and iron, etc., he cannot tell their differences. All that is made an object by valid cognition cannot be indicated as this, for example, like the eye of inference. Therefore, what is this refutation that is said? That is the nature of the distinction made by things. This thing is this itself, that is, the present itself. Because it becomes the maker, it cannot indicate the present itself from the horn, because one sees the cognition that definitely recognizes things. If one says that the distinction of experience made by the thing that has become the reason for that exists, then one can speak. On the other hand, one says, this reasoner, because there is no certainty, this unrecognizing, unexpressed, distinguishes the thing, that is, the nature of consciousness, that is, recognizes it as the nature of certainty, which refers to the meaning of others' "this is impossible." How to distinguish and establish? What is said is that this nature of experience is this blue, not the other yellow, therefore it is good.

This is to establish. This is a preclusive word, which prevents others from establishing. If it is said, is it not the case that the distinctions of the nature of the eye, etc., are established without definite cognition of what is called "this"? It is true. Because from that, there is the nature of definite cognition, called the consciousness of the eye, which is the establishment of the result, therefore, by the power of this, is it also the case that the nature of the eye, etc., which does not have definite cognition, is also established? Consciousness is the nature of definite cognition, and it is not established by others, but only by itself. Therefore, if that is not definitely cognized, then cognition is not definitely established. Those causes for the establishment of distinctions such as jewels and silver, which are not definitely grasped, should also be regarded as terms without distinctions. It cannot be said that distinctions are established because the cognition of the distinctions of the result is seen. If the distinctions of experience made by things such as blue are definite, then the certainty of the cognition of blue will be completely cut off. Because what completely harms the definite cognition of things is precisely the cutting off of the distinctions made by things, and not others. If the nature of something is definitely transformed into the action of knowing, how can the definite cognition of the action become if it is not definite? Therefore, if it is said that distinctions are established because the cognition of distinctions is seen, then the meaning of what is said becomes this: distinctions are cognized because distinctions are cognized, and if that is the case, then it is not reasonable. Therefore, it is said that the self-nature is without definite cognition. How can something that should be definitely cognized as the self-nature of something become without definite cognition? If that is not definitely cognized, then how is the nature of that thing established? If a certain nature is not cognized, then it will not become the cognition of that thing's nature, just as the moment is not definitely cognized, and the nature of blue, etc., is not definitely cognized. The distinctions made by the object of knowledge are also not definitely cognized, therefore, it becomes the nature of that knowledge.
