All the wisdom of a yogi is direct perception. How the four noble truths are purified by valid cognition, and how impermanence and the like should be meditated upon, and how many lifetimes of lineage should be accustomed to reach the ultimate end, and what cause should be accustomed to, the cause of Bodhisattvas is compassion, and the other causes are aversion to samsara, all of which should be understood with means, object, and aspect, as established in the Treatise on Valid Cognition, to see the noble truths. Here, it is only to prove that by habituating to the conceptualization of having a correct object, the direct perception that focuses on its meaning arises. Someone might say, like in the case of fear, etc., when the consciousness that is preceded by meditation manifests fear, etc., where is it seen? It is said: Desire, fear, sorrow, and whatever is disturbed by them, that is what is disturbed by them, like a thief's dream. In a dream, if one sees a thief appearing, that is a thief's dream. Other situations are thief's dreams, etc., which are deceived by them. Although it does not exist, it is as if it is in front, as if it existed before. This explains the manifestation of what is seen. Here, in the state of being disturbed by desire, etc., or in the army, or in the state of being afflicted by sorrow, etc., the consciousness that arises with clarity can be determined to be the manifestation of consciousness, otherwise, it may also be a sensory illusion of opening the eyes. Here, what should be proven is that the consciousness produced by the cause of meditation is manifest, not produced by the senses, because there is no dispute about the manifestation produced by the senses. Even if it has been explained, it cannot be said that the yogi's consciousness is manifest. Someone might say that for those whose senses are impaired, like those with cataracts,

If some things are mistaken due to the senses, but other things are seen unclearly, and if the delusion of desire also appears weak in some aspects, then, thinking that this is not a sensory illusion is meaningless. Because under the influence of delusion, only the unreal things that are contemplated will appear more clearly than the senses, so only the former is blameless. Being deluded by the dream of a thief refers to the moment of waking up from sleep, because in the state of sleep, there are also various clear appearances. Therefore, what is the use of special explanation? Even if the mind appears clearly due to the influence of sleep, it cannot be said to appear clearly from the cause of contemplation, because the difference in appearance is the cause of delusion, not the cause of contemplation. Therefore, immediately after waking up from the dream of a thief, opening the un- clear eyes, or being deluded in the darkness, is what is to be grasped here. Also, where does it come from when they say, "Seeing as if it were in front of them"? The answer is: Just like delusion, it does not go beyond desire, etc. Reverence is seriousness, which is the characteristic of trembling due to joy, or the state of the body with the characteristic of goosebumps. Practice is to strive diligently in accordance with what is seen, such as calling out suffering, etc., saying "Who is who here," and grasping swords, etc., with arrogance, all these are for the sake of seeing. Even if the practice of reverence is seen, how can it be determined that they appear as clearly as seen with one's own eyes? Understanding hidden things is knowledge. The understanding or certainty of it is like this: thinking "I understand the hidden things," and thus becoming certain, that is how it is. Because the nature of the action, the form of the nature of reverence, is not seen entering. It is said like this, for example, just as the actions of body and speech are led by desire, similarly, from following and opposing, the practice of reverence is determined to be the cause of what is seen with one's own eyes, because that
