The reason for saying "because it is uncertain" etc., is because it has already been stated. The so-called "contradiction" refers to the contradiction that exists by mutually excluding each other. The so-called "not established by valid cognition" means that it merely exists by mutually excluding each other. The so-called "not harmed by valid cognition" means that it is not another third party. If it is not harmed by valid cognition, but it is said that it is harmed by mutually excluding each other, then it will become merely the direct perception of self-contradiction. The so-called "also possessing the nature of contradiction" means that even if it is not a contradiction that exists by mutually excluding each other, it is still possible. The reason for setting it as a contradiction is that it does not exist by mutually excluding each other. Because dependence and accompaniment are excluded, it cannot be established as necessarily arising. Because things like rabbit horns do not exist themselves, there is no dependent, so even if dependence and accompaniment are excluded, necessary arising will not exist. For itself, even if necessary arising is excluded, dependence and accompaniment will not exist. So, what should it be like? Because it is the pervasive nature of existing by mutually excluding each other, necessary arising and uncertainty are contradictions that exist by mutually excluding each other, because that is its thing and its thing does not exist. What is pervaded by the non-existence of its thing is dependence on others. This is also indirect, even if it is not mutually exclusive, it is a dharma that possesses it, so the meaning of indirect is contradiction through indirectness. It and its non-existence are directly contradictory, and possessing the contradictory is its indirect contradiction. The valid cognition that proves indirect contradiction will become a non-perception syllogism, meaning that through that syllogism, in addition to self-contradiction, indirect contradiction will also be established, so in order to explain this, it is said that "non-perception pervaded by contradiction" is to explain that the syllogism is different from the direct perception of self-contradiction. Stating the syllogism of the words of the subject is because the meaning is suitable for having a subject, and not suitable for not having a subject, this is because it is thought that the meaning of sound is not an external meaning. This will not be prevented, meaning that doubt etc. will not be prevented. Why not state the syllogism? Because it is said that "there is no object", because the basis of the sign has not been established. If it is said that because it is a negative syllogism, it is non-perception, then because conceptual thought exists.

Establishment is what appears to conceptualization; what appears as existent relies on existence; what appears as non-existent relies on non-existence; what appears as both existent and non-existent relies on both, such as a pot, a rabbit's horn, and a non-corporeal entity, in that order. A non-corporeal entity, such as space, appears as existent, while a rabbit's horn, etc., appears as non-existent; both have been shown. There, taking external objects, such as the chief principle, is refuting them. There, the so-called external object is the self-character other than what appears to conceptualization. It should not be grasped and refuted. Thus, sound is not meaningless; the chief principle, etc., which appear to conceptualization, are not non-existent as subjects. Why? Because of stating the connection; if what appears to conceptualization is non-existent, then speech is impossible. Also, because it generates the aspect of that, it is also so, meaning the speaker shows with sound. The knowledge of cause and effect refers to the teacher and the listener. Not appearing separately is the meaning of self-character. Because it is individually self-cognized. Thus, for the proponent and the opponent, it is established by self-cognizant direct perception. Here, there is no other reasoning, because the other is false. What has not been truly obtained is the future. Because there is no harm here, it means that what appears to conceptualization, there is no harm here, so it does not become non-existent. These desire to be objects of consciousness, meaning all these sounds are actually meanings that appear to consciousness. Also, in that, establishing the nature of establishment as having no cause, means refuting the chief principle, etc., and also in that, how others establish it, that is, the unclear, permanent, general, and generating things that appear to consciousness, establishing that there is no external cause for them, thus the existence of the unseen, because it establishes the basis of what appears to conceptualization. That is for the purpose of establishing consciousness, meaning the consciousness of the appearance of the chief principle, etc., that is not an external cause, is for the purpose of establishing. Here, the real thing is the mind, meaning the chief principle.
