Like this, it relies on the sign determined by valid cognition. Therefore, to establish that what is heard itself is unique, is because it is said that it is impossible to deviate from the two reasons for refutation, etc. It is impossible to be outside of the two because it is contained by the entities of permanence and impermanence, and there is no other aggregate. If it is determined by one valid cognition, it will not become undetermined. To establish that it exists on one is to establish it. Because there is no valid cognition, it enters into dissimilar aspects, and there is hesitation about retreating from dissimilar aspects, and the other is definite. It is like a common uncertainty. Not from others means not from those who have the same qualities. How many is what the teacher said. These two combined into one means contained by permanence and impermanence, and the reversal of a single determination. If retreat is certain, then a third aggregate may exist. Special distinction is that both permanence and the other are prevented. It is said in the second chapter. If the reason for certainty, it refers to the correct reason. The fault of speaking refers to speaking of inverted concomitance, etc. That also refers to speaking near the correct sign. One uncertainty means it is not, which means it is not determined by the nature of the entity. Because it shows the nature of the entity, it is not determined for that reason, because the fault of speaking has been done, but the entity itself will not become undetermined. What is the thought here? Even if it is not established that what is heard and life, etc., are definitely understood, it will become a sign because there is some certainty in the entity itself. Inference of meaning by others relies correctly on the momentary dharma of the entity. Abandoning the fault of speaking is for the sake of the other person's understanding, and that is because it depends on sound. If that is the case, it is uncertain, and for this reason, it is a refutation. One aspect of dharma.

It is said, "unestablished," and so on. If it is unestablished, it is because it is unestablished for one party; if it is unestablished, it is doubt, and it is thought that being unestablished for one party is also for things. Saying "not obtaining the desire, that is how it is," refers to the opponent saying to any debater who argues with an unestablished reason, "Because of this reason, this is unestablished." Thus, the debater's intention, that is, the thing to be proven, will not be obtained, because it will become an obstacle. That is how it is, that is, it is a refutation. Is it also a refutation without obtaining the opposite? That is, it is thought that refutation is merely making the opponent unhappy, or merely reversing the method. Because it can become an obstacle to the argument, it is considered a refutation. If it is said, "This is doubt, or unestablished for one party," then, because that statement can make one recognize the essence of a seemingly valid reason, it can become an obstacle to the establishment of the thing to be proven. If it is said that what is seen by the eye itself is established in the two characteristics of a reason, that is the opposite, then the "also" mentioned here refers to doubt and unestablished for one party. Uncertainty is because there is no certainty, so it is not an argument; if the opponent says it like that, it is a refutation, because the opponent's words can become an obstacle to the debater's intention. Unestablished is also the same. Therefore, only things that contradict the reason are certain to be pervasive of themselves. Both are arguments and refutations, because they can become an obstacle to the other party's intention. The so-called "showing the nine aspects of the property of the subject" refers to the nine parts that are called the eye. What are they? That is, "because it is measurable," and so on. These should be written in order, like the order of letters, in the upper, middle, and lower parts, without confusion. In this way, one can understand the distinctions of existence, non-existence, and both in similar instances, and the distinctions of existence, non-existence, and both in dissimilar instances, and the distinctions of contradictory and uncertain reasons, these parts being separated one by one. If one examines according to the rules of the sequence, one can understand the similar instances.
