Saying things like, "Because there is nothing, the term 'existent' is negated." Just as something that doesn't cause birth isn't called a father. Likewise, if it exists, then the nature of existence and non-perception, as well as the sign of the result, are all present. Therefore, everything that doesn't establish the appearance of its own nature is an establisher. Other than the nature of the thing itself, what is not deceptive is not false. Its cause is related to the thing, that is, it depends on the nature of the thing itself. Because self-awareness depends on it, it is not known from what is unrelated. Therefore, knowing from what is related is recollection. Therefore, there is no valid cognition other than direct perception, which is recollection. Therefore, if it is a valid cognition, it is pervasive in the collection of these. And direct perception and non-direct perception are both present, and both of them individually generate valid cognition. Therefore, the sign of the combination of the two is also established. This should be understood. Furthermore, another proponent claims that there is no valid cognition other than direct perception, saying that only direct perception is valid cognition. Saying "That is not reasonable" means that saying recollection is not valid cognition contradicts one's own words. How so? Saying things like "Why?" means that the other proponent himself accepts the three signs. Saying "Because of the establishment of valid cognition and the general characteristics of the other" is the sign of nature. Saying "To realize the wisdom of others" is the sign of the result. Saying "By what is negated" is the sign of non-perception. "That" refers to the other proponent. Saying "From the distinctions of knowledge" and so on is explaining that what does not deceive the meaning is valid cognition, and what deceives is not valid cognition. Therefore, among the clear objects of direct perception and recollection in one's own and others' minds, how should valid cognition and non-valid cognition be established from what deceives and what does not deceive? That is, a small part of the clear knowledge of non-deceptive direct perception, which is extremely famous as the valid cognition of direct perception, should be shown to the other proponents as an example of non-deceptive recollection. In this way, recollection should be accepted as valid cognition. Otherwise, direct perception would also be unreasonable.

In order to show that neither the mother nor the inference, whether valid or invalid, can be established, it is said that "from the differences of knowledge" refers to entering one's own and others' continuums. What is meant by "pervading by their characteristics" is that whatever deceives is invalid, and whatever does not deceive is valid. If this is not said, there is no other way to show one's students. If it is shown in this way, then some of the appearances of direct perception knowledge will be widely known as valid. Or some appearances of knowledge will be widely known as valid. How do they accord with what is seen? That is to say, this appearance of knowledge, because it does not deceive or deceive, is valid or invalid. If it abides in the place where inference should be made, then inference also exists. What is meant by "that is also not established" is that for you, the Lokayata, because you do not accept inference, it means it is not established. What is meant by "other" is that after universally establishing, one does not explain pervasion. In this way, although inference will not become valid, it will harm one's own wishes. How so? Starting from experiencing the object, that is the cause. What is meant by "cannot be indicated" is the difference in the appearance of knowledge that exists in one's own or another's continuum. Like that, one by one, separated from the pervasion of concomitance or difference. Like that, knowledge is also, difference is also, so it is the difference of knowledge. From those, like that, starting from the cause separated from concomitance. For oneself and the student, that which exists in one's own continuum, because there is no concomitance, it is impossible to prove whether it is valid or invalid. Therefore, one should not strive in treatises. Like this, the knowledge of experiencing the object of the characteristics of inference being valid, etc., if that which exists in one's own continuum is the meaning to be indicated to others from the sign of the words of the treatise, because one does not accept the characteristic pervasion of the sign, therefore there is no inference, therefore it is meaningless. If one strives in treatises in order to understand in that way. Then this refutation contradicts one's own characteristics, because one both abandons inference and oneself applies inference. That itself is the opponent's...
